Key Responsibilities Hair Care Services: Provide safe and comfortable hair services including washing, cutting, setting, rollers, blow-drying, and styling tailored to senior preferences and hair types. Nail & Skin Care: Perform basic, non-medical manicures (nail shaping, cuticle care, light hand massage, and polishing) and gentle facial grooming/skin care. Client Safety & Comfort: Adapt techniques to accommodate clients with limited mobility, arthritis, or cognitive differences (such as dementia or Alzheimer's). Ensure safe transfers to and from the styling chair. Sanitation & Compliance: Maintain a spotlessly clean, sanitized, and organized salon station. Strictly adhere to state cosmetology board regulations and facility health and safety protocols. Social Engagement: Build warm, trusting relationships with participants. Act as an active listener, offering a friendly and uplifting environment during their services. Collaboration: Coordinate scheduling with the program director and activities team to ensure services fit smoothly into the daily activities calendar. Qualifications & Skills License: Active and valid State Board of Cosmetology license (New York). Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a practicing cosmetologist. Experience working with seniors or in a healthcare/daycare setting is highly preferred. Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and safely assist seniors with minor mobility adjustments. Key Soft Skills: Exceptional patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
