Title: Opening Line Cook – Te No Te | Japanese Handrolls & Snacks
Te No Te is hiring a Line Cook for a small Japanese handroll, snacks, and drinks concept in NYC.
The menu centers on open-faced temaki, Japanese snacks, small plates, rice, seafood, sauces, garnishes, and prep-driven service. The concept is connected to an existing Japanese restaurant space, so the standards are polished, but the team is small and hands-on.
This role is best for a cook with experience in Japanese cuisine, seafood, rice, small plates, opening restaurants, or small teams. The kitchen is compact, so candidates should be organized, independent, clean, and comfortable helping across more than one station.
What you’ll do
Execute prep and service for snacks, small plates, rice, seafood, sauces, garnishes, and related menu items
Maintain clean, organized station setup and breakdown
Support prep, service, receiving, cleaning, and opening sidework
Follow recipes, portioning, product handling, and sanitation standards
Work independently in a small team without constant direction
Cross-train and support the team as systems are built during opening
Who we’re looking for
Professional kitchen experience required
Japanese cuisine, seafood, rice, small-plate, or opening experience preferred
Strong cleanliness, organization, and prep habits
Comfortable working in a compact kitchen or small team

Available full-time or at least 4 shifts per week
Evening and weekend availability required
Compensation
$22–$28/hr based on experience. Paid training provided.
