Service Writer Responsibilities:
Customer Interaction:

Manage expectations regarding timelines.
Work Orders & Dispatch:
Create detailed and accurate repair orders in TekMetric.
Assign technicians and labor appropriately.
Communicate work order details to technicians.
File daily/weekly all inspections into folders.
Communication & Follow-Up:
Provide updates on vehicle status.
Notify of any changes or delays promptly.
Address concerns efficiently.
Technical Understanding:
Understand basic automotive terminology.
Translate customer descriptions into technical terms.
Efficiency & Organization:
Maintain organized workspace and workflow.
Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Track repairs and problem causes.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate parts inventory in TekMetric.
Organize parts storage for efficient retrieval.
Ensure parts information, including backorder status, is readily available.
Ordering:
Follow established SOP for parts ordering.
Maintain clear communication with vendors.
Manage special order parts and pre-order when appropriate.
Returns:
Process returns promptly and accurately.
Adhere to established return policy.
Obtain RMAs for defective parts.
Document all returns.
