Mid-Bronx CCRP Head Start Job Description Teacher STATEMENT OF JOB The Teacher coordinates implementation of curriculum that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program and their child’s education. To develop individual goals for children transitioning into programs, provide on-going observation and assessment of progress and facilitate transition into kindergarten. QUALIFICATIONS • Two years teaching experience and/or supervised student teaching., • Always supervise and monitor children., • Accompanies children on trips., • Supervises Assistant Teachers and Volunteers in the classroom., • Participates in case conferences., • Holds parent teacher conferences. II. Services • Plan and conduct regular parent meetings with team members., • Schedule two parent/teacher conferences yearly – Fall and Spring, • Assist in recruitment efforts., • Attend In-Service Training, • General maintenance and security of classroom

Responsibilities: • Assist students with daily homework, • Assist students with Math and reading/writing assignments, • Help manage classroom behavior and transitions, • Experience working with children (school or afterschool preferred), • Knowledge of Math and ELA (elementary/middle school level), • Responsible, patient, and able to work in a team, • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
