Atrium is seeking on behalf of our client a Project Accountant to support Project Management by overseeing the financial aspects of projects throughout their duration. This role involves analyzing labor efficiency, cost trends, under/overbilling, and other project-related financial data, while delivering regular and ad-hoc financial reports to ensure successful project outcomes. Location: Bronx, NY Work Arrangement: On-site Compensation: $80,000–$120,000 annually Job Summary The Project Accountant supports Project Management by managing the financial lifecycle of assigned projects. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate project accounting, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, and providing clear financial insight to Project Managers and stakeholders. Essential Duties • Partner with the Project Management team to perform cost and revenue analysis across projects., • Manage all accounting functions related to assigned projects., • Oversee invoicing, payments, and compliance for assigned projects., • Understand project requirements and support adherence throughout the project lifecycle. Key Tasks and Responsibilities • Support initial project setup in Viewpoint., • Update project data in response to contract changes or revisions., • Review sub-consultant invoices and manage sub-consultant purchase orders., • Provide guidance on invoice preparation, format, and distribution, including follow-up on overdue accounts or unbilled costs., • Participate in project review meetings and provide monthly updates to Work in Progress (WIP) reports., • Support project closeout activities., • Review project charges and facilitate cost transfers as needed., • Maintain fully executed owner-contractor agreements and purchase orders., • Ensure compliance with owner requirements, including billing deadlines, waivers, and certified payroll., • Monitor change orders and invoices to ensure timely and accurate billing., • Track accounts receivable and assist Project Managers with collection efforts., • Monitor project budgets and assist with quarterly profit projections., • Provide financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to Project Managers and clients., • Prepare pre-billing reports for Project Manager review., • Update contracts in line with client requirements and communicate budget amendments., • Prepare labor reports comparing actual performance to estimated projections., • Perform cost analysis and reporting related to job setups, re-budgeting, pencil requisitions, underbilling analysis, change orders, quarterly cost-to-complete analysis, and delay claims. Essential Qualifications and Skills • Ability to handle sensitive matters tactfully and professionally., • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills., • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision., • Highly organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills., • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt in a fast-paced environment., • Strong understanding of contracts and scopes of work., • Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and attention to detail. Education and Experience • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Engineering is preferred but not required., • At least five years of experience in job cost, cost accounting, and/or construction accounting is preferred., • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Procore, Vista, or Timberline., • Experience with Bluebeam, Adobe, and document control processes is a plus., • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
