Job Description Overview PTI Tech is a leader in precision injection molding, specializing in both metal (MIM) and polymer components for mission-critical applications in aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial sectors. We are seeking a Junior Sales Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role plays a key part in supporting the quoting and sales process—interpreting technical drawings, developing accurate quotes, and ensuring smooth internal handoff if a project is awarded. The ideal candidate will work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to align client needs with our capabilities. In addition to standard quoting, this role requires occasional ownership of more complex government proposal submissions. When those opportunities arise, the Junior Sales Engineer is expected to take the lead in preparing and submitting complete and compliant packages. Proficiency with AI tools to streamline quoting, documentation, and proposal development is essential. This is a growth-oriented role with multiple potential paths into engineering, sales, or operations. The expectation is to spend 3–5 years in this position while gaining exposure to different areas of the business. Roles & Responsibilities • Quote & Proposal Support, • Manage incoming RFQs and generate accurate, timely quotes in coordination with Sales, Engineering, and Operations., • Interpret technical drawings (including GD&T) and specs to support cost estimation and manufacturability reviews., • Understand various manufacturing methods (e.g., injection molding, additive manufacturing, MIM, machining) to recommend best-fit approaches., • Format and prepare professional, client-facing proposal documents, • Sales Process Support, • Maintain organized quote tracking in CRM and internal systems, ensuring accuracy of part numbers, customer names, and status., • Follow up on outstanding quotes, gather feedback, and assist the sales team in advancing opportunities., • USG Proposal Ownership, • Own the process for more complex government or military proposal submissions as needed., • Use AI tools to support writing, formatting, compliance checking, and document compilation., • AI-Enabled Efficiency, • Leverage AI tools to accelerate quoting, extract data from technical files, and improve proposal quality, • Contribute ideas for improving sales and proposal workflows through digital tools and automation., • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Handoff, • Coordinate with Engineering, Tooling, Production, and Quality teams to ensure quoting assumptions are feasible., • Assist in the transition of awarded jobs into production by communicating quote assumptions and technical requirements., • Technical Literacy – Reads and interprets technical drawings (incl. GD&T) and understands core manufacturing methods including injection molding, additive manufacturing, machining, and MIM., • Quote Development Accuracy – Consistently produces technically and commercially accurate quotes., • AI Tool Proficiency – Uses AI to improve productivity, quoting speed, and proposal quality., • Communication Skills – Clearly articulates information across teams and to clients., • Sales Process Support – Understands how to manage and move opportunities through the quoting pipeline., • Client Focus – Maintains professionalism, responsiveness, and a solution-oriented approach., • Organizational Skills – Manages multiple tasks, RFQs, and proposals in a timely, accurate manner, • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Coordinates well across departments to align internal and client needs., • Problem Solving – Identifies and resolves issues in RFQs or specs during the quoting process., • Quote Turnaround Time – 90% of standard quotes delivered within 3 business days, • Quote Accuracy Rate – 95% of submitted quotes require no major rework, • Proposal Completion Rate (USG/Complex Projects) – 100% of assigned proposals submitted on time, • CRM & Quote Log Consistency – 100% of quotes logged and updated within 1 business day, • Handoff Completeness Score – 90% of awarded quotes transitioned with full documentation to production, • B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred, • 1–2 years of relevant experience (internships, co-op, or full-time), • Comfortable reading engineering drawings, including GD&T, • Exposure to or interest in injection molding, additive manufacturing, machining, or metalworking processes, • Familiarity with ERP systems and CRM tools a plus, • Strong attention to detail, time management, and follow-through, • Interest in leveraging AI tools to improve productivity, • Strong communication and client-facing demeanorCompany DescriptionEngineers.
