ph3Job Details /h3 /brpDescription /p /brpUSA Baldwin County ASC is seeking experienced Scrub Techs to join our Team! /p /brh3JOB TITLE /h3 /brpSurgical Technologist /p /brh3SUPERVISION RECEIVED /h3 /brpPhysician and/or Registered Nurse /p /brh3General Summary Of Duties /h3 /brpSurgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses. /p /brh3Education/Experience/Requirements /h3 /brul /brliA graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program; or have completed an appropriate training program for surgical technologists in the Armed Forces; or is completing duties related to their employment by the federal government; or has equivalent training or experience /li /brliPrefer 1-2 years clinical experience in an operating room setting. May accept 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field /li /brliMust be certified in Basic Life Support /li /br /ul /brh3Essential Functions /h3 /brul /brliPrepares and maintains medical equipment and instrumentation for surgical procedures /li /brliBefore an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up the sterile field to include surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions /li /brliFollows state and federal facility regulations when attending to patients /li /brliPerforms pre-procedure preparations to the patient's skin and body /li /brliCompletes a safety check prior to start of the procedure on appropriate equipment, supplies, etc. /li /brliAssembles both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as checking to ensure it is working properly /li /brliMay assist with prep for patient procedure /li /brliMay transport patients to the procedure room /li /brliMay assist with positioning on the procedure table /li /brliDrapes the patient with surgical drapes per procedure to be performed /li /brliPasses instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants /li /brliRetracts, cut sutures and performs other functions under the supervision of the physician performing the procedure /li /brliParticipates in the count of sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments, based on type of procedure performed /li /brliHelps prepare specimens and assists with the disposition of specimens /li /brliApplies dressings /li /brliPost-procedure, assists with patient transfer from the procedure bed to the stretcher /li /brliCleans and restocks the procedure room /li /brliPulls supplies and instruments for upcoming procedures /li /brliAssists with the maintenance of physician preference cards and inventory management /li /brliAssists with the decontamination and cleaning, sterilization and performance of quality testing related to sterilization and high level disinfection /li /brliPerforms other duties as assigned /li /br /ul /brh3Qualifications /h3 /brul /brliHigh School Diploma or GED required. /li /brliGraduate of surgical technician program and documented experience. /li /brliBasic Life Support (BLS) prerequisite /li /brli2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. /li /brliKnowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. /li /brliDemonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards. /li /brliMust be computer literate with basic fundamental computer skills that are required to perform essential job-related duties. /li /br /ul /brh3Physical/Mental Demands /h3 /brul /brliAbility to be on your feet for long periods and lift or turn disabled patients /li /brliRequires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment /li /brliAbility to concentrate for periods of up to four hours /li /brliAbility to communicate verbally both in person and on the telephone /li /brliAbility to use computer keyboard and to view a computer monitor /li /br /ul /brh3KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES /h3 /brul /brliMust be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the center /li /brliDemonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication /li /brliDemonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members /li /br /ul /brh3PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS /h3 /brpSurgical technologists work in clean, well-lighted, well-ventilated environments. Must stand for long periods and remain alert during operations.
