About Us At THEKER, we're taking on one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century: redefining how physical work gets done in the world. We are a robotics and AI company building intelligent, adaptable systems that solve problems traditional automation never could. From Barcelona, our mission is to create a generation-defining company leading the robotics revolution. By joining us, you will have the chance to do the most meaningful work of your life, setting a new standard for industrial automation and driving breakthroughs with global reach, while being surrounded by a focused, talent-dense team that shares this ambition and is here to win. We recently closed the largest robotics Series A in Europe's history, and we're looking for the top 0.01% of talent to take on that mission with us, and build the biggest company in the world. Your role We are looking for an Industrial Design Engineer to design the enclosures, housings and structural parts that contain, protect and present our robotic technology in the field. Every sensor, control unit and end effector we deploy needs a physical form that holds up in a warehouse, protects the electronics inside, and looks like it belongs at a company building the future of robotics. You will join a hardware team that moves from concept to deployed product on a fast cycle. Some projects start as a blank sheet: a new enclosure for a control unit, a housing for a sensor array, a bracket system for an end effector. Others are already in motion, and you'll need to pick up an existing design, understand its constraints, and take it to production without breaking what already works. Day to day, you will work closely with electronics, controls and mechanical engineers to understand what each product needs to survive and perform in the field. You'll design in CAD, choose materials and manufacturing processes with production volume and cost in mind, and take parts from first sketch through prototyping to a design ready for industrial-scale manufacturing, whether that means injection molding, sheet metal, machining or another process entirely. What we're looking for - Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. - Proven experience designing physical products or enclosures for electronic or industrial systems, from concept through to manufactured part. - Strong command of CAD for mechanical design (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo or equivalent). - Familiarity with 3D design and modeling software more broadly. - Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing methods for both plastics and metals, including their design constraints and cost implications. - Ability to size and adapt designs to functional requirements: protection, thermal behavior, ergonomics, assembly, and appearance. - Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate (100% on-site role). Nice to have - Experience designing products that combine plastic and metal components in the same assembly. - Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and tolerance stack-up analysis. - Experience working directly with suppliers or manufacturing partners during production ramp-up. - Background in robotics, consumer electronics, or industrial equipment design. You'll thrive at THEKER if - You're excited by a fast-paced and ambitious environment. The opportunity ahead of us is enormous, and we're going all in to capture it. - You want responsibility early on, delivering at world-class standards for leading clients. - You enjoy experimenting, iterating quickly, and embracing change as part of the learning process. - You enjoy building things from scratch and leaving them better than you found them, whether that's a new design or one you inherited mid-project. Main Responsibilities - Own the mechanical design of enclosures, housings and structural components for THEKER's robotic products. - Design in CAD from initial concept through to manufacturing-ready files. - Select materials and manufacturing processes (injection molding, sheet metal, machining, casting) based on volume, cost and performance needs. - Adapt each design to the functional requirements of its specific use case: protection, thermal management, assembly, serviceability and appearance. - Take designs from a working prototype to full industrial-scale production. - Pick up and continue ongoing projects, understanding existing constraints before proposing changes. - Coordinate with electronics and controls engineers to ensure designs integrate cleanly with the systems they house. - Track manufacturing feasibility and cost throughout the design process, flagging trade-offs early. What We Offer - Being part of a fast-growing robotics and AI company with genuine ambition, where your career can accelerate alongside us. - The chance to shape the physical identity of THEKER's products, from first prototype to the units deployed in the field. - A focused, talent-dense team where your work is visible and your decisions count. - An environment where new ideas are encouraged and your contributions shape both the product and the company. - 100% on-site work in Barcelona. What the process looks like 1. Intro call with our Talent Team 2. Take-home design exercise: adapt a given enclosure concept to a set of functional and manufacturing constraints. 3. Conversation with the engineering team. 4. Meet the rest of the team and founders at our offices. These steps can be completed in 7 days. Final Observation We're committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We welcome all applications regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or beliefs.
