Job Description – PAM Operator (Passive Acoustic Monitoring) Project: Passive Acoustic Monitoring – Tréport Offshore Wind Farm Location: Onboard Skagerrak vessel – Tréport offshore wind farm site Start date: Around 26 August 2025 Duration: 10–15 days Schedule: Night shifts Mission context As part of the pre-installation operations for the Tréport Offshore Wind Farm, a PAM operator will be mobilised to carry out passive acoustic monitoring of marine mammals. The goal is to detect, locate, and identify any cetacean presence to support mitigation measures for underwater noise during offshore activities. Key responsibilities • Operate and monitor a Passive Acoustic Monitoring system onboard the vessel., • Detect and identify marine mammal acoustic signals., • Record and report acoustic (and, if applicable, visual) detections., • Produce daily and final reports according to project protocols., • Coordinate with the vessel crew and other environmental observers., • Ensure routine maintenance and proper functioning of PAM equipment. Requirements • Proven experience as a PAM Operator in offshore environments., • Proficiency with PAMGuard or equivalent acoustic software., • Good knowledge of marine acoustics and species found in the English Channel / North Sea., • Previous offshore / at-sea work experience., • Ability to work night shifts in potentially challenging sea conditions., • Good reporting skills in English (French a plus)., • Valid offshore medical and safety certificates (BOSIET/FOET, HUET, medical fitness). Terms • Contract: Freelance / Project-based short-term contract, • Pay: Depending on profile and experience, • Provided: Accommodation and meals onboard, travel as per agreement, • Dates: Late August 2025 (mobilisation around 26 August) – 10–15 consecutive days, • Port of embarkation: To be confirmed depending on vessel schedule
