Looking for the perfect hairdressing job✂️but don’t know how to stand out from the crowd?
No worries my friend, you have us🙋🏻!
Follow our tips and be confident that not only are you going to blow your future boss’s mind but also going to nail that hairdressing job.
The best way to get your application at the top of the pile is to get a referral.
What’s that, you ask?
A referral is someone who knows the owner of the salon or spa where you are applying and would happily recommend you. It can be anyone: a friend who’s working there, a client, or even the salon owner’s dog-walker. By coming through a trusted source, you will definitely gain an edge over other candidates.
As a hairdresser, you’re an artist 🎨 and like every artist, you should create a portfolio to demonstrate your work. Every time you cut, colour and treat someone’s hair – take a “Before” and “After” picture. Create a physical portfolio that you can share with the hiring manager to illustrate your incredible style and speciality.
What better way to show your super-amazing talent than by offering a free cut and colour? If you have a friend or a willing participant whom you can take along to do the haircut on in front of the salon manager, even better! (Psssst, we don’t mind the free haircut!)
We know you’re a smart cookie and already have a Facebook/Instagram page up and running. And if you don’t as yet- it’s all good. Go ahead and make one now 💁
Post all your hairstyling pictures there, share testimonials from happy clients and regularly post content to engage with your audience. You can use it to build yourself as a power brand and let your future boss admire your work.
In fact, if you have a great following and social media presence, we promise that you will be the one being chased by recruiters. Paste the link of your social media page on your JOB TODAY profile to let salon managers view your work and see how you’re a few cuts above other hairdressing applicants 😉
Brilliant! You’ve had the interview for the hairdressing job and are now waiting to hear back from the spa owner. To tip the scales in your favour, send them a short and sweet thank you note. Let them know that you appreciated their time and that you’re super excited to work with them.
You’ll be surprised at how big a difference such small yet thoughtful gestures make in hiring decisions 🙌😊
