Since opening just two years ago, Williams & Hirst has won 12 industry awards and grown into a community of over 40 independent hairdressers, operating from our 18-chair salon on Wardour Street. We are a fast-growing business, and alongside the day-to-day salon, Williams & Hirst regularly hosts leading hair and beauty brands for events, education, launches and industry activations. We are now looking for a confident, highly organised and responsible Salon Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day coordination of the salon. The Role The Salon Coordinator is a key operational role within Williams & Hirst, working closely with and reporting directly to the Directors. You will be responsible for ensuring the salon runs smoothly day to day, including coordinating the Front of House team and managing their rota to ensure the salon is appropriately staffed. With 18 workstations, over 40 independent hairdressers and a constant flow of clients, deliveries, brands and events, this is a fast-paced role where excellent communication and organisation are essential. You must be able to work under pressure, prioritise quickly, take responsibility and make sensible decisions without needing constant direction. This is also a hands-on position. Whether it's dealing with an operational issue, supporting Front of House, completing a stock check, speaking with an independent hairdresser or making client refreshments during a busy period, we expect everyone to work together to maintain the standards of Williams & Hirst. The ability to work evenings and Saturdays is an essential requirement of this position. Applicants must have flexibility across these periods as part of their regular working pattern. Key Responsibilities • Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running and coordination of the salon, • Working directly with the Directors and communicating any operational issues clearly, • Coordinating and supporting the Front of House team, • Managing the Front of House rota, including planning shifts, holidays and arranging appropriate cover when required, • Ensuring Front of House staffing reflects the needs of the salon and upcoming events, • Supporting the Front of House team with their daily duties and ensuring tasks are completed to the required standard, • Ensuring daily opening and closing procedures are completed correctly, • Welcoming clients and maintaining an exceptional client experience, • Preparing and serving client refreshments throughout the day, • Maintaining the presentation and standards of all client-facing and communal areas, • Supporting our community of 40+ independent hairdressers with day-to-day operational queries, • Carrying out regular stock checks across salon, retail, hospitality and operational supplies, • Monitoring stock levels, identifying shortages and ensuring essential items are reordered, • Receiving, checking and organising deliveries, • Liaising professionally with suppliers, contractors and external partners, • Supporting the coordination of brand events, education and private hires, • Identifying problems and taking ownership of resolving them, • Communicating effectively between the Directors, Front of House team and independent hairdressers, • Ensuring salon procedures, standards and house rules are followed, • Having tough or uncomfortable conversations when required, while remaining professional, fair and respectful, • Handling complaints or difficult situations calmly and knowing when something should be escalated to the Directors, • Taking on additional operational responsibilities as the company continues to grow Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is confident, switched-on, responsible and exceptionally organised. The salon can be extremely busy, with multiple things requiring attention at the same time. You need to be able to remain calm, prioritise effectively and make decisions while continuing to deliver a high standard of service. Excellent spoken and written English is essential for this role, due to the level of daily communication required with clients, independent hairdressers, team members, Directors, brands, suppliers and external partners. You should be: • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, • Confident working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, • Responsible, reliable and punctual, • Proactive — someone who sees what needs doing and does it, • Comfortable taking ownership and making day-to-day decisions, • Confident managing rotas, staffing requirements and last-minute changes, • An excellent verbal and written communicator, • Approachable but confident enough to be firm when required, • Comfortable having difficult conversations and resolving issues, • Naturally hospitality and customer-service focused, • Able to coordinate and support a Front of House team, • Comfortable carrying out stock checks and maintaining accurate records, • Calm and solutions-focused when problems arise, • Happy to be hands-on and help wherever required, • Someone who takes genuine pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards, • Able and willing to work evenings and Saturdays – this is non-negotiable and an essential requirement of the role Previous salon experience is preferred, particularly experience within a busy or premium salon environment. Experience within high-end hospitality, hotels, members' clubs or other fast-paced customer-facing businesses will also be considered. Progression & Opportunity Williams & Hirst is a fast-growing company, and we want this position to grow alongside the business. Having won 12 awards in our first two years, grown to more than 40 independent hairdressers and established an 18-chair flagship space in Soho, our operation continues to evolve. For the right person, there will be opportunities for career progression, increased responsibility and performance-related bonuses as both the role and company develop. This is not a traditional receptionist position. We are looking for someone who wants ownership, responsibility and the opportunity to become an important part of the continued growth of Williams & Hirst.
