Role Summary: As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll be the backbone of the kitchen — helping with prep, supporting the chefs on station, and keeping the kitchen clean and organised. 🧹 Main Duties of a Kitchen Porter 🍽️ Cleaning and Washing • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and glassware, • Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, walls, and equipment, • Ensure food prep areas are always clean and hygienic, • Take out rubbish, recycling, and food waste regularly 🍲 Food Preparation Assistance • Peel, chop, or prepare basic ingredients (under supervision), • Help chefs set up workstations or prepare cooking utensils, • Load/unload food deliveries and store them properly 📦 Stock & Supplies • Keep kitchen stocked with clean plates, cookware, and utensils, • Refill kitchen supplies like soap, paper towels, gloves, etc., • Organize dry store and cold rooms (e.g., fridges and freezers) 🧯 Health & Safety • Follow food hygiene and safety standards, • Use cleaning chemicals safely and wear protective equipment if needed, • Report any broken equipment or hazards to the supervisor

We are looking for a part time kitchen assistant to join our kitchen team at Fidelio cafe in Farringdon. Monday to Friday daytimes only . No evenings or weekends. This role is a combination of kitchen porter duties ( cleaning and washing up ) plus being trained to assist the chef with kitchen prep and preparing dishes during service . training on the food side will be given hourly rate is £13 plus service charge and staff meal on shift 30 hours per week Mondays 7:30-3.30 Tuesdays 9.30-3.30 Wednesday 9.30-3.30 Thursdays 9.30-3.30 Fridays 10.30-3.30

What are you going to do? Main duties involve: • unloading deliveries, • organising the storeroom, • Greeting clients, • collecting and washing pots, pans, plates and cutlery, • getting pots, pans plates and cutlery back into use quickly, • washing and disinfecting kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls, • making sure kitchen equipment is properly stored, • removing and recycling waste from the kitchen You might also help with basic food preparation before the school opens.
