North Indian Chef Restaurant: Thikana Location: Angel Job Type: Full-time / Part-time Salary: Competitive, based on experience About Us Thikana is an Indian restaurant in Angel, London, specialising in authentic North Indian cuisine. We are seeking an experienced and passionate North Indian Chef who can deliver traditional flavours with consistency, quality, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and cook authentic North Indian dishes including curries, breads, and appetisers, • Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation, • Operate and manage tandoor cooking (naan, roti) if applicable, • Prepare gravies, marinades, and spice blends from scratch, • Manage mise en place and timely service during busy hours, • Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety, • Assist in menu planning and new dish development, • Monitor stock levels and reduce food wastage, • Train and support junior kitchen staff where required, • Comply with all UK food safety and health regulations Requirements • Proven experience as a North Indian Chef, • Strong knowledge of North Indian spices, gravies, and cooking techniques, • Experience with tandoor (preferred), • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, • Good teamwork and time-management skills, • Food Hygiene Level 2 (preferred), • Legal right to work in the UK, • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends Preferred (but not essential) • Experience working in Indian restaurants in the UK, • Ability to handle high-volume service, • Menu innovation while preserving authentic flavours What We Offer • Competitive pay package, • Supportive working environment, • Opportunity to contribute creatively to menu development, • Long-term growth opportunities How to Apply Please apply with your CV and details of your experience in North Indian cuisine.
