Festival Food Truck Team

We are looking for energetic, reliable and customer-focused team members to join our food truck team for a busy two-day festival.
Hourly Rate: £13.00–£14.00 per hour
Rate offered will depend on relevant hospitality/festival experience and responsibilities assigned.

This is a fast-paced, customer-facing role. You will be one of the first people our customers meet, so we are looking for someone who is friendly, confident, organised and able to remain calm when it gets extremely busy.

You will work closely with the kitchen and serving team to keep orders moving quickly and accurately throughout the day.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Front-of-House / Cashier – Outside the Food Truck

You will be responsible for welcoming customers and helping to create a smooth and positive ordering experience.
Your duties will include:

  • Warmly greeting and welcoming customers.
  • Helping customers understand the menu and available meal combinations.
  • Answering basic questions about dishes, portions and prices.
  • Directing any allergy or dietary enquiries to the designated person responsible for allergen information rather than guessing or making assumptions.
  • Taking customer orders accurately.
  • Processing card/contactless payments using our Square point-of-sale system.
  • Checking each order before confirming payment.
  • Managing the customer queue and helping to prevent congestion around the food truck.
  • Communicating clearly with the Order Runner and kitchen team during busy periods.
  • Handing out pre-packaged drinks and snacks where required.
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner even during peak periods.

Order Runner / Assembly

The Order Runner acts as the important link between the kitchen, serving hatch and customer.
Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the flow of completed orders from the serving hatch.
  • Monitoring printed order tickets as they come through.
  • Matching each ticket carefully with the correct food box.
  • Checking the meal combination and any extras before handing the order over.
  • Making sure additional items such as Dodo, Dundun, Puff Puff, drinks or additional proteins are included when ordered.
  • Calling order numbers/names clearly.
  • Passing completed orders to customers quickly and professionally.
  • Keeping completed and outstanding orders organised to avoid mix-ups.
  • Immediately communicating missing or incorrect items to the kitchen team.
  • Helping maintain a fast and efficient service during peak periods.

Accuracy is extremely important. Never guess what belongs in an order - always check the ticket.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

We want customers to leave with a positive impression of both our food and our team.
You will be expected to:

  • Be welcoming, polite and approachable.
  • Communicate clearly in a loud festival environment.
  • Remain patient when customers are deciding what to order.
  • Stay calm and professional if a customer raises a concern.
  • Never argue with customers.
  • Refer complaints or situations you cannot resolve to the designated supervisor.
  • Keep the queue moving without making customers feel rushed.

Everyone is responsible for maintaining a clean and professional trading area.
Front-of-house responsibilities include:

  • Alerting the supervisor immediately to spills, hazards or anything that could create a safety issue.
  • Washing/sanitising hands as required and following all food-hygiene procedures provided during training.SHIFT & ARRIVAL REQUIREMENTS

Arrival: 7:00 AM SHARP – BOTH DAYS

Punctuality is essential.
You must be at the designated food truck location by 7:00 AM on both Sunday and Monday.
The early arrival requirement is particularly important because of street closures, security arrangements and crowd-control barriers around the event area.
Do not plan to arrive at 7:00 AM - plan your journey so that you are already on site and ready by 7:00 AM.
You should therefore allow significant additional travelling time.
The working day may be approximately 12 - 13 hours, including preparation, trading and end-of-day close-down. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Reliability

You must be able to commit to the agreed shift(s), arrive on time and remain available for the full working period.

High Energy & Stamina

This is not a quiet restaurant shift.
You should be comfortable:

  • Standing for long periods.
  • Working approximately 12-hour festival shifts.
  • Working around large crowds.
  • Operating in a loud and extremely busy environment.
  • Maintaining speed and concentration during sustained periods of high demand. Excellent Communication

You should be confident speaking with customers and communicating quickly and clearly with colleagues.

Calm Under Pressure

During peak service, multiple orders may be coming through simultaneously.
We need people who can work quickly without becoming careless or flustered.

Attention to Detail

An incorrect protein, forgotten side or wrong order can cause delays and customer complaints.
You must be willing to check the order ticket every time.

Teamwork

You will be working as part of one coordinated team. Helping colleagues and communicating problems quickly will be essential to keeping service running smoothly.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in any of the following would be helpful:

  • Festivals or large outdoor events
  • Street-food businesses
  • Food trucks
  • Restaurants or takeaways
  • Catering
  • Cashier or point-of-sale work
  • Customer service
  • High-volume hospitality

Previous experience is an advantage but is not essential.
Full training will be provided on:

  • Our menu and meal combinations
  • Portion and order identification
  • Square POS/card-payment procedures
  • Order-ticket procedures
  • Customer collection procedures
  • Food hygiene and front-of-house expectations
  • Allergen enquiry procedures
  • Opening and closing routines

Familiarity with Nigerian cuisine is also a bonus.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This will be a very busy festival environment. At peak periods, there may be a continuous queue and orders may arrive rapidly.
You will need to be prepared to work hard, communicate constantly with the team and maintain excellent customer service throughout the shift.
There will also be quieter periods when the team will be expected to restock, clean, reorganise and prepare for the next rush, and any ad-hoc task, rather than waiting for customers.

HOW TO APPLY
Please complete and submit the application form with the following information:

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Previous hospitality, catering, customer-service or event experience
  • Whether you can work BOTH days
  • Confirmation that you can be on site by 7:00 AM

APPLICATION DEADLINE

All completed application forms must be submitted by 12am 19/08/2026
Applications received after the deadline may not be considered, as the final team will need to be confirmed and scheduled in advance.
Please only submit the form if you are genuinely available for the dates and working hours stated.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted with further information regarding shift allocation, training, meeting point, uniform/dress requirements and event-day procedures.
