  Location: Hayes / UB8 area Pay: £13.50 per hour Immediate start We are looking for an experienced and reliable male support worker to support a 16-year-old boy with learning disabilities. He is non-verbal and requires patient, attentive support to remain safe at home and while accessing the community. The successful applicant must understand how to support children or young people with learning disabilities, communication difficulties and limited awareness of danger. Working hours The role is for approximately 20 hours per week, usually worked in five-hour blocks. Example schedule: • Monday: 12:00pm–5:00pm, • Tuesday: 12:00pm–5:00pm, • Wednesday: 12:00pm–3:00pm, • Thursday: 12:00pm–5:00pm Some flexibility may be required depending on the young person’s needs. Main responsibilities • Supporting the young person to remain safe at home, • Supporting him to access activities in the community, • Providing reassurance, structure and close supervision, • Supporting positive engagement and meaningful activities, • Following his care plan and agreed safety procedures, • Working alongside another care worker during community outings, • Communicating appropriately with his family and care team Requirements • Previous experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities, • Experience supporting non-verbal individuals, • Good understanding of safeguarding and managing risks, • Patient, calm, reliable and able to follow instructions, • Enhanced DBS registered with the online Update Service, • Right to work in the UK, • Able to start immediately Due to the specific care and support needs of the young person, applications are invited from male care workers only.
