Main Duties - Undertake all duties and responsibilities in accordance with: company policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, standards; good professional practice,, CQC and other regulatory requirements, relevant legislations, all legal and contractual obligations. - Provide advice, information and support to the residents. - To support and provide care for the young people/children in the home by assisting them with; bathing, eating, homework, education, behaviour, money management, travel training etc. - Ensure resident’s follow the homes rules and support the manager in investigating and taking action where these may have been breached. - Manage challenging behaviour which may require physical intervention to appropriately support the child/ young person. - Oversee the maintenance of accurate client records and databases and provide statistics for management and to assist with service evaluation in a timely fashion. - Support clients with the prompting of their medication, conduct accurate and timely medication audits and maintain accurate medication records. - Complete written documentation (support plans, Medication sheets, risk assessments) regarding the young people/ children to help and ensure their safety and development within our setting. - Take part in regular team meetings to discuss the residents, the progress that they are making, how their general well-being is as well as forming action plans to support them further. - Attend professionals meetings (where appropriate). - Assist in the transfer of individuals between agencies and services. Health and Safety - To be familiar with Health and Safety Regulations, policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to within your own area of responsibility. - To be aware of and follow fire policies and procedures, ensuring safety of residents and workers safety and welfare at all times. The Registered Manager is accountable for ensuring that we deliver high quality care to the young people within our Semi – Independent Home. This means that they are responsible for delivery of all care services for 16- and 17-year-olds as well as providing strategic planning for developments within the home, and all day-to-day management matters. They will demonstrate the ability to build on the well-established principles and practice standards existing within Hawthorn Support. The aim of the Registered Manager is to ensure that each young person placed within the home is fully prepared for life outside the care system. Consequently, they are expected to demonstrate practical leadership in childcare, as well as organise and support staff to provide the best possible training for each young person. This involves being personally available, as well as the supervision and mentoring of staff, organisation of work patterns, and facilitation of care focussed training, and accessing of appropriate services to support the childcare practices within the home. As this is a vital role in the lives of young people cared for at Hawthorn Support, it requires an active and long-term commitment. The Project Manager and Service Manager work closely with each Registered Manager, assisting them to provide high-quality care. While the Registered Manager is employed for 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday) they are expected to arrange their own work rota which may involve evening, weekend and sleeping-in duties, if necessary. The Registered Manager is wholly responsible for ensuring an appropriate staff presence to meet the needs of the young people in the home. The ideal Candidate will have experience within passenger transport, a valid D1 drivers’ licence and able to pass background checks according to company policies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Drive to safe and professional standards (D1/PCV standards), all vehicle types operated by MCT in accordance with the Highway Code, including adherence to traffic and parking regulations and Blue Badge provisions. • Using accessible vehicles equipped with a ramp or tail lift, transport passengers to/from designated collection points in a courteous and safe manner. Ensure passengers are correctly secured in the vehicle with a seatbelt or with the use of various specialist wheelchair securing mechanisms. • Undertake at start and finish of duty vehicle checks in accordance with legal and company requirements, report/deal with defects according to company procedures. Ensure that all necessary equipment for a day's duty is present on the vehicle and in good condition and refuel vehicles as may be required. • Assist passengers on a door-to-door basis.
