Job Overview :
As a Ramp Operative, you play a vital role in the safe and efficient turnaround of aircraft. You’ll handle aircraft, baggage, cargo, and ground services to ensure on-time arrivals and departures. This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, maintaining strict safety standards, and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Aircraft Handling:
- Park Aircraft both on the Ramp and in the Hangar.
- Chock, cone, tow, and push back aircraft safely following all operational procedures.
- Guide aircraft using standard marshalling signals and communicate effectively with flight crews and colleagues.
Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Operation : - Operate and maintain ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and baggage carts.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment is safe and ready for use.
Passenger & Crew Assistance : - Support boarding and deplaning, providing professional and courteous service.
- Load and unload baggage, cargo, and special items safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate with other teams to ensure smooth operations.
Aircraft Servicing: - Assist with aircraft services including water, lavatory, and catering support.
Ramp Safety & Compliance: - Follow all company and aviation safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised, hazard-free ramp environment.
Operational Flexibility: - Provide cover during peak periods or staff absences.
- Work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Support emergency or irregular operations when required.
Collaboration & Communication: - Work closely with operations, flight crews, and other departments to ensure efficient turnaround.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members.
Skills & Qualifications: - Experience: Minimum 1 year of pushback/towing experience preferred.
- Knowledge: Understanding of ramp operations, aircraft handling, and safety procedures.
- Physical Fitness: Able to lift heavy items, work outdoors, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Flexibility: Comfortable working variable shifts and adapting to operational needs.
- Teamwork: Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Education: GCSEs, A-Levels, or equivalent required.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license (clean record and past Airport ID preferred)
- Desirable: Aviation certifications such as Ramp Safety or Dangerous Goods Awareness. Previous Experience Ground Handling/Ramp Operations.
Work Environment:
This is a hands-on outdoor role requiring flexibility, stamina, and attention to detail. You’ll work in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays, to support flight operations.
