In this vital role, you will operate specialised skip lorries to transport waste and construction materials efficiently across various sites. Your expertise in commercial driving and safe handling of heavy-duty vehicles will ensure smooth deliveries and pickups, contributing to the seamless operation of our supply chain. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced environment where safety, precision, and reliability are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate skip lorries to transport waste, debris, or construction materials between designated locations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with road regulations
- Load and unload materials carefully, adhering to safety protocols and weight limits
- Navigate urban and rural routes efficiently, maintaining punctuality for scheduled deliveries and pickups
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle maintenance records, and compliance documentation
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site personnel to coordinate schedules and resolve any logistical issues
- Follow all safety procedures and traffic laws diligently to prevent accidents or incidents
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and keeping the vehicle clean and presentable
- Follow all relevant driving, health and safety and waste regulations
Qualifications
- Valid class 2 HGV driving license with relevant experience for operating skip lorries.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably with knowledge of skip lorry operations or similar heavy-duty vehicles
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as loading/unloading materials safely
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and site personnel
- In date Tacho card & CPC
