My client a leading Payment Services Provider based in Europe is looking for an Operations Manager to work remotely. The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the full operational lifecycle of merchant processing, ensuring stable performance, compliant workflows, efficient routing, and seamless coordination between merchants, acquirers, development teams, and internal departments. This role is critical for maintaining operational integrity, profitability, and service reliability.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee daily PSP operational performance: volumes, approvals, declines, routing health.
- Manage merchant processing issues, escalations, and system checks.
- Implement and enforce SOPs for onboarding, monitoring, settlements, and incident response.
- Coordinate with acquirers, gateways, and technical teams on operational matters.
- Ensure clean documentation, compliance alignment, and proper merchant lifecycle management.
- Produce weekly and monthly operational KPI reports (volume, fees, chargebacks, profitability).
- Identify operational inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement across systems and workflows.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of payment processing flows (auth, capture, settlement, chargeback cycles).
- Experience with acquirers, MIDs, BIN routing, and gateway configuration.
- Proficiency with Power BI/Tableau, advanced Excel, and reporting dashboards.
- Familiarity with API behavior, webhooks, and technical troubleshooting.
- Ability to manage pressure, incidents, downtime, and decline-rate anomalies.
- Excellent communication skills for merchants, partners, banks, and internal coordination.
Compliance & Risk Knowledge
- Understanding of KYB/KYC, AML/CTF, and merchant risk categories.
- Ability to work with MLRO/compliance teams on documentation and file checks.
- Awareness of GDPR obligations and data-handling standards.
- Knowledge of high-risk MCC behavior, fraud indicators, and transaction monitoring systems.
Experience Requirements
- 3–7 years in PSP, acquiring, fintech, or gaming payments.
- Hands-on operational management experience in a payments environment.
- Background in risk, merchant support, or operational optimization is strongly preferred.
- Degree in Business, Finance, IT, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
Bonus Qualifications
- SQL knowledge for transaction-level investigations.
- AML certifications or chargeback management credentials.
- Experience handling high-risk merchant verticals.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and PSP ticketing platforms.
