Key Responsibilities Specialty Coffee & Beverage Preparation • Prepare high-quality espresso-based beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, and specialty drinks., • Demonstrate proficiency in espresso extraction, grinder calibration, milk steaming, and latte art., • Maintain consistency in beverage quality, presentation, and preparation standards., • Operate, clean, and maintain commercial espresso machines, grinders, and related equipment. Front of House & Guest Experience • Deliver attentive, welcoming, and professional customer service., • Engage with guests, provide product recommendations, and maintain a positive atmosphere., • Accurately process transactions and manage orders using our POS system., • Efficiently fulfill in-store, pickup, and third-party delivery orders., • Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally., • Maintain an immaculate, organized, and visually appealing front-of-house environment. Daily Operations • Execute opening and closing procedures., • Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies as needed., • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards., • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient daily operations., • Remain composed, organized, and efficient during high-volume service periods., • Demonstrate accountability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail. Required Qualifications • Minimum 1 year of professional barista or relevant specialty café experience., • Hands-on experience operating commercial espresso machines and grinders., • Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, milk steaming, and beverage consistency., • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills., • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment., • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and exceptional attention to detail., • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently., • Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends. We are small, intentional, and care deeply about how people feel when they walk through our door — and when they leave. THE ROLE Lead Hosts are the backbone of Light Switch. You will anchor shifts across both sides of the day, dialing in espresso in the morning and running beverage service in the evening — while setting the standard for the team around you. You have worked with coffee as well as experienced in night time hospitality and comfortable making drinks, serving tables and running a busy evening floor. But beyond the craft, you are the kind of person who genuinely lights up when a guest walks in. You remember names. You make people feel welcome without being performative about it. Cafecito Social is a Guatemalan coffee shop on Bond Street in Gowanus. Our coffee is grown in Guatemala and roasted there by the people who grow it, then shipped fresh to Brooklyn. We are hiring baristas for every shift, opens through closes. We are a small team, which means the person on shift runs the shop: espresso, register, pastry case, restocking, cleaning, counting the drawer, receiving deliveries, and filling in the shift log before you leave. Requirements: Previous experience in a busy cafe or restaurant. Weekend availability. Opening shifts start at 6 AM. NYC Food Handler's License, in hand before your first shift. This is not negotiable. Able to lift 30 lbs. Reliability above all. If you cannot work a scheduled shift, you find your own coverage and tell me who is taking it. $18 to $21 an hour plus tips, paid weekly. 16 to 35 hours per week. Employee discount and paid training.
