RESPONSIBILITIES • Be able to travel between multiple Food Pantry sites to assist with distribution., • Provide general outreach and promotion for program (outdoor and indoor), • Provide office support including: clerical, filing, faxing, scanning, typing, photocopying and sorting mail, • Answer telephones and offer other office support, when necessary, • Report to, and meet with, supervisor on a weekly basis or as determined, • Perform additional duties as assigned Program Specific Responsibilities • Support strategies for community outreach and recruitment, • Become knowledgeable of every component and service offered by the CMCC Food Pantry, • Provide assistance with all Food Pantry activities, such as, lifting boxes, sorting food, assisting with inventory management, and crowd control, • Complete data entry for Food Pantry clients, • Greet clients and schedule appointments for them to receive services, • Create and distribute informational materials and fliers in targeted (and other) communities in the Bronx to promote services, events, and other special functions, • Refer clients to an appropriate program for enrollment services, • Perform data entry work, • Perform other duties as necessary QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or equivalent, • Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, iPad, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment, • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in Bengali, Spanish or French is preferred, • Driver’s License preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods., • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time, or climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork., • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents., • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation., • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
