We are looking for an English and Math teacher who can teach grades K-6th. This is a part time job. Availability would be Monday through Friday 3:30 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Schedule is flexible and even availability for just one or two days is accepted. At least one year of prior teaching experience is required. We are looking for someone who lives in New Jersey, preferably near Fort Lee where our learning center is located. Please only apply if you are available to come into the office and teach in-person.

Mid-Bronx CCRP Head Start Job Description Teacher STATEMENT OF JOB The Teacher coordinates implementation of curriculum that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program and their child’s education. To develop individual goals for children transitioning into programs, provide on-going observation and assessment of progress and facilitate transition into kindergarten. QUALIFICATIONS • BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related field, or MA/MS in Early Childhood Education. • New York State Certification B-2, New York State Initial Certification, or New York State Professional Certification Birth-Grade 2 (Professional Certification mandates 30 hours of Professional Development every 5 years) • Two years teaching experience and/or supervised student teaching., • Physical Requirement: Physical examination (includes screening for tuberculosis) to show that the individual does not pose a risk to the safety and health of others because of communicable diseases. SPECIFIC DUTIES I. Classroom • Plans and implements the educational program for children by using Creative Curriculum and other resources. • Develop and utilize lesson plans, which reflect mandated elements, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. • Individualize one-to-one group activities to reflect the unique needs and strengths of all children in the classroom, including those who are at risk, those with special needs, those who are gifted, and those who are culturally diverse. • Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, language and literacy, problem solving, two or three daily meals, and effective transition between activities. • Encourage experimentation, exploration, cooperation, socialization, ask open-ended questions and listen respectfully to the answers. • Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom. 2 • Work with other staff and resources in developing specialized planning for children/families as needed, such as speech, occupational, physical, psychological therapist and nutritionist. • Always supervise and monitor children., • Respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur. Provide first aid or CPR, prevent the spread of blood borne pathogens, and access emergency services as needed. • Accompanies children on trips., • Supervises Assistant Teachers and Volunteers in the classroom., • Participates in case conferences., • Holds parent teacher conferences., • Maintain accurate written records, including assessments, special education documentation, screening instruments, anecdotal observations, family contacts, lesson plans, monthly reports, form 10’s, documents for transition to public school and parent/teacher conference and other required forms. All communications are potentially sensitive and are subject to Head Start’s policy on confidentiality. II. Services • Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings to plan for and deliver collaborative services across all components with educational director and family worker. • Meet regularly with parents and other staff regarding each child’s status and progress. • Conduct required home visits for purposes of assessment and support, and to share information on parenting, educational strategies, and classroom progress. • Plan and conduct regular parent meetings with team members., • Schedule two parent/teacher conferences yearly – Fall and Spring, • Assist in recruitment efforts., • Attend In-Service Training, • Attend meetings, trainings, and appropriate professional development activities. • General maintenance and security of classroom, • Assist in inventory of all site equipment. III. Responsible to Education Director IV. Perform duties outside this job description when required for the efficient delivery of services to children and families

Responsibilities: • Assist students with daily homework, • Assist students with Math and reading/writing assignments, • Help manage classroom behavior and transitions, • Ensure a safe, structured, and engaging environment Requirements: • Experience working with children (school or afterschool preferred), • Knowledge of Math and ELA (elementary/middle school level), • Responsible, patient, and able to work in a team, • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

The primary role of the Education Specialist/Coach is to build strengths-based relationships with affiliated providers to support them as needed and, in particular, with implementing high quality play-based instruction. Curriculum  Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum which reflects observations and assessments of individual children.  Design an environment which responds to children's individual developmental levels, physical and emotional needs and current interests by consulting appropriate ECE guidelines.  Provide a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and activities which foster social skills and encourage children to think, problem solve, question, and experiment.  Plan and implement child-oriented, self-initiated activities while limiting large group, staff-initiated activities.  Provide more than one option for group activity and maintain flexibility in changing planned activities, according to children's interests.  Create documentation of children's accomplishments through anecdotal notes, documentation panels and/or portfolios. Family Communication  Respond to family comments and concerns with sensitivity, interest, and respect. Maintain confidentiality.  Communicate verbally and in writing with families daily regarding the development and specific activities of the children in their primary care.  Plan and facilitate in regular family conferences to discuss orientation, transitions, and developmental goals for their child based on appropriate assessment tools.  Share resources with families through discussions, articles, family boards, newsletters, and community contacts. Physical Environment, Health, Safety and Nutrition  Maintain and follow all safety and health rules of the location  Always supervise children. Demonstrate awareness of entire group  Know the number of children in your group and maintain accurate attendance records throughout the day.  Complete appropriate paperwork (i.e., accidents, medication etc)  Organize a variety of materials on low, open shelves for children to use independently. Qualifications: NYS Teaching Certification (Birth -2 nd ), Masters or Bachelors in Degree Early Childhood Masters/Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or related field and must agree to study plan as required by DOH&DOE.
