You are a reliable, responsible person with a strong work ethic who is punctual, focused and loves to work with children. You also have a love of the arts and are not afraid to participate in activities in theatre, music, dance, art and more with our students.
You take direction well and thrive on a constantly moving work day with varied responsibilities and activities throughout the day. You can be pro-active and jump in where help is needed. Most importantly, you understand that the comfort and safety of the children in your care is the absolute top priority of the entire staff.
​Reporting directly to the site manager, you will assist them, the teachers and the program director with many tasks throughout the day. You will serve as an example to the young people attending, showing them that they can have fun with all the activities.
Responsibilities:
Assisting in the sign in/sign out process, ensuring that we have accurate records of each child entering, and that every child is released ONLY to an authorized adult.
Ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Assist with the set up and break down of meals, snacks and beverages, in addition to tables, chairs and supplies for each activity.
Be the person students can come to when they need something during an activity, a bathroom trip, a band-aid, a moment to sit out, etc.
Helping the site manger and teachers with attendance and other records.
Be aware of the schedule so that you can be proactive in preparing for each activity on time.
Keep the space clean and organized - return supplies, games and other items to their proper place. Help students keep track of their personal belongings. Make sure trash and recycling is properly disposed of.
Be willing to respond positively but firmly to behavioral issues and defer to the site manager or program director in proper techniques for supervision of children.
Be a part of a positive and inclusive culture where we encourage teamwork, creativity and personal growth.
Properly plan your transportation to and from work so that you are signed in and ready to work on time. Plan your meals and breaks so that you have time to eat and relax within the allotted time.
Qualifications:
Eighteen years or older
Ability to efficiently follow protocols while also providing a nurturing, safe space for our students.
Ability to focus, multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
The capacity to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
Excellent communication skills.
A love of the arts and working with children.
First Aid and CPR certification a plus.

There are Lead Counselor positions for more experienced workers as well as Junior Counselor positions for 16-17 year olds.
