Job Description Overview The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized, and creative individual who welcomes the challenges of acquiring and developing new business through the sales-to-delivery process. The primary responsibility of the Business Development Manager is to identify business opportunities, develop and implement client penetration strategies; develop, nurture and sustain key relationships (Owners, Developers, Architects, Engineers & Key Stakeholders) which will result in construction management opportunities for the company while maintaining an extensive knowledge of current market conditions. The role also requires oversight and effective execution of the business development process and strategy development. Duties • Identify qualified opportunities through the development of strategic relationships with Architects, Engineers, Developers, and Owners., • Coordinating and arranging meetings/appointments., • Assisting with the preparation of presentations and pitches for prospective clients., • Develop and manage a sales pipeline to generate new business with the Marketing Director., • Producing and presenting the Go/No-Go process for prospects and opportunities to the BD Committee., • Generate Client Penetration Strategies for potential clients and opportunities., • Report on planned and executed sales activities during the weekly BD Committee Meeting., • Position the team for key pursuits based on the approved Strategic, Marketing, and Business Development Plan., • Engage operations personnel and subject matter experts throughout the sales process., • Identify potential projects that are early in the planning phase (RFP / RFQ), gather information that will assist in proposal responses and improve the chance for award., • Lead strategy development of RFQ/RFP/Interview responses working with the Marketing Director., • Maintain the integrity of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data and process related to pursuits and client network with the Marketing Director., • Participate in industry trade events and convention shows when requested by the Marketing Director or Vice President., • Attend pre-bids and client interviews., • BS or MS in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, Marketing, or related industry experience., • Some years of experience in the South Florida Construction market., • 2 years’ experience overall in the Business Development area., • Demonstrate the ability to verbally communicate clearly and effectively both in an informal setting, as well as, in a formal presentation environment., • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the complete construction process, including design, cost estimating and construction., • Demonstrate an understanding of the project development process, including real estate, municipal planning, civil issues, and financing., • Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of the sales cycle, the process and flow of securing work, and how to close business in daily practice., • Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary, along with an ability to be self-directed.
