Job Description PARALEGAL Location: Onsite Job Summary: Reporting to the Legal Paraprofessionals Manager, this role will be responsible for supporting various attorneys with all administrative aspects of the section specialty. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Input attorney and billable paralegal time into Workspace., • Initiate opening of new files and closing of complete ones., • Assist with basic legal research including but not limited to locating cases, statutes, and regulatory materials, conduct fact research on internet and private search engines., • Attend, actively participate, and take notes at meetings., • Collaborate and assist attorneys within other sections., • Coordinate preparation of exhibits and witness lists., • Draft, review, and edit correspondence (pleadings, petitions, motions, briefs, affidavits, contracts) and varied other specialty documents ensuring compliance with court rules., • File any documents with courts, county, state, or federal agencies., • Maintain contact with clients to track and analyze progress on a regular basis., • Maintain open client list and calendar., • Manage preparation of post-trial filings including briefing, motions for costs and sanctions as well as organize the case for appeal if necessary., • Order any type of necessary report to maintain client satisfaction., • Organize and maintain case files, schedule client conferences and attorney meetings., • Prepare and submit attorney expense reports., • Schedule couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other special functions., • Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Required Skills: • Associate degree in Paralegal studies or related field or equivalent experience required., • 3+ years law firm experience., • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment., • Ability to maintain confidential/sensitive information; exercises discretion and good judgement., • Deep understanding of legal terminology and principles, research methods, court processes., • Effective time management skills and excellent organizational skills., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal and client service skills., • Strong attention to detail particularly in proofreading., • Strong analytical, problem-solving and research skills., • Strong technology skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, E-Discovery, NetDocuments, Elite 3E; knowledgeable in Zoom or similar teleconference platforms. Certifications: • Paralegal Certificate preferred., • In office work at New York, NY location five days per week., • Full-time, non-exempt, Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (one hour lunch)., • Overtime (over 40 hours) may be required from time to time., • Compensation range $42/hr - $52/hr (dependent upon relevant experience)., • Medical, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability, and 401(k) benefits offered.
