Position Summary We are looking for an experienced AM Cook / Wok Cook to prepare food, run the kitchen line, and support morning/midday operations. The ideal candidate has strong wok experience and is reliable, fast, clean, and comfortable working in a busy fast-casual restaurant. Responsibilities • Prepare and cook menu items according to the restaurant's recipes, portions, and quality standards., • Cook proteins, vegetables, noodles, and sauces using wok techniques as needed., • Set up and maintain the AM line with proper mise en place, labeling, and restocking., • Prepare and pack catering orders according to daily catering demand and timing., • Maintain food safety, sanitation, temperature, and storage standards., • Handle opening duties, including setup, prep, labeling, and shift-start restock., • Communicate low stock, quality issues, or equipment problems to the manager., • Support teammates with prep, packing, dishwashing, cleaning, and other tasks as needed. Qualifications • 1-2 years of kitchen, line cook, prep cook, or fast-casual restaurant experience required., • Wok cooking experience required; Asian cuisine experience preferred., • Flexible availability between 5:00/6:00 AM and 3:00 PM., • Weekday availability preferred; weekend shifts not required., • Reliable, responsible, punctual, and comfortable working AM/opening shifts., • Able to work quickly while maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and food quality., • Hands-on team player willing to support other stations when needed., • NYC Food Protection Certificate is a plus, but not required.

SCOPE OF ROLE: The Cook will assist in the management and monitoring of all aspects of the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation. In this position you will prepare low-fat, salt-free, vegetarian and soft meal options to meet special dietary and medically prescribed needs of residents. The Cook will assist in managing and performing food and equipment ordering and inventory. The ideal candidate should have experience in the safe and sanitary handling and storage of all food items in accordance with New York State and New York City Department of Health regulations. He/she will be responsible for the general supervision of kitchen area, including overall cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, utensils, and supplies, and the ability to provide instruction to inexperienced trainees. Evening and Weekend Hours may be required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist in the management and monitoring of all aspects of the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation for 200 homeless individuals including those with special diets., • Prepare low-fat, low-sodium, vegetarian and soft meal options to meet special dietary and medically prescribed needs of residents., • Assist in managing and performing food and equipment ordering and inventory., • Daily Equipment Logs, Food Logs and Waste Logs., • Safe and sanitary handling and storage of all food items in accordance with New York State and New York City Department of Health regulations. (Including Weekly Deliveries need to be Stored, Label, and Dated also must be able to lift 25lbs.), • Responsible for the general supervision of kitchen area, including overall cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, utensils, and supplies, and the ability to provide instruction to inexperienced trainees., • Assist in the implementation of a Daily Cooking and & Nutrition (Daily Living Skills) training curriculum for Shelter Residents to prepare them for independent living, • Cook and serve 3 meals per day to 200 shelter residents according to the census and the menu., • Attend staff meetings, conferences, group supervision, and training as needed., • Kitchen cleanliness, and equipment maintenance according to NYC and NYS - DOH guidelines and program requirements., • Prepare and serve meals at SUS Multiple Sites if necessary., • A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required., • Comply with and enforce all SUS Corporate Compliance and Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols., • Comply with, enforce, and carry out all SUS Incident Management Policies, Procedures, and Protocols as appropriate. REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum of one year of experience in all aspects of food preparation and kitchen management within a large institutional or commercial setting. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • NY State Food Handlers Certificate required, additional nutritional training, and certificates preferred.
