Work Shifts 8:00 A.M – 4:00 P.M Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position: Under supervision, operates motor vehicles and equipment such as passenger cars, ambulances, hearses, trucks, wreckers, forklifts, tractor-trailer trucks and sign-erecting trucks used by City departments. In a small garage, may do dispatching of personnel, motor vehicles and equipment; performs related work. Examples of Typical Tasks: 1. Operates one or more types of motor vehicles such as passenger car, ambulance, hearse, truck, wrecker, forklift, tractor-trailer truck or sign-erecting truck., 2. Drives a truck carrying employees and material to and from work location., 3. Acts as a chauffeur to an official., 4. Checks the tires, oil and fuel of the vehicle, and checks vehicle to see that lights, horn and brakes appear to be operating properly., 5. Reports and noticeable mechanical defects in the vehicle., 6. Cleans the windows and interior and exterior of vehicle., 7. Changes tires or wheels., 8. Assists in loading and unloading of materials, equipment, and passengers., 9. Reports any accidents in which the vehicle may have been involved., 10. Operates motor equipment mounted on, or transported by, the vehicle., 11. Watches for traffic hazards while labor force is engaged in making emergency repairs., 12. Transports collectors and cases of coin boxes to and from collection areas., 13. Is responsible for tools, supplies, materials, and equipment carried in or on the assigned vehicle., 14. Prepares trip reports., 15. In a small garage, may dispatch personnel, motor vehicles and equipment., 16. In the Police Department, may operate a vehicle which transports inmates to and from detention facilities, police stations and court locations. Minimum Qualifications 1. Possession a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York which must be maintained for the duration of employment. SPECIAL NOTES: 1. For appointment to certain positions, candidates must possess either a Class A, B, or C Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York with passenger endorsement and no restrictions on the number of passengers, or with no airbrake restriction., 2. All Motor Vehicle Operators with a Commercial Driver License are subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and incumbents with a Commercial Driver License will be subjected to random drug and/or alcohol testing. Department Preferences Commercial Driver's License (CDL License is required). License Requirement: Valid CDL required; Class A or B highly preferred. Work Shifts 10 AM - 6:00 PM Alternating Weekends Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position: Under direct supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in the preparation, cooking, seasoning, and distribution of food in a healthcare facility. Ensures meals are prepared in accordance with departmental standards, dietary requirements, food safety regulations, and sanitation guidelines while supporting quality resident care and customer service within the Food and Nutrition Services Department. Examples of Typical Tasks: • Checks production sheets, menu cards, Net Menu reports, special diet lists, and modified diet instructions to determine food quantities and preparation requirements., • Prepares, seasons, cooks, and portions food in accordance with approved recipes, dietary restrictions, and departmental standards., • Operates kitchen equipment and utensils including ovens, grills, steam kettles, slicers, mixers, blenders, grinders, and related food service equipment safely and efficiently., • Monitors and maintains proper food temperatures during preparation, holding, and service in compliance with food safety regulations., • Assists with meal assembly, tray accuracy, and timely distribution of meals to resident and patient service areas., • Inspects food products and storage areas to ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, infection control, and storage standards., • Maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in accordance with facility, NYC Department of Health, OSHA, and regulatory requirements., • Participates in menu discussions, food preparation planning, quality improvement activities, and appropriate utilization of food supplies and leftovers., • Assists in orienting and supporting dietary aides and other food service staff as assigned., • Reports equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and supply shortages to supervisory staff in a timely manner., • Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and effective communication while supporting departmental operations and resident satisfaction., • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Elementary school graduation through the eighth grade, plus a formal course in basic, • Cooking principles, • New York City Department of Health Food Protection Course Certificate; and,, • Two years of full-time, paid experience as a Cook; or,, • A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience and training; and,, • Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out instructions. Delivers trays to patients and collects/returns soiled trays to the kitchen area. Participates in daily menu conferences and food service operations of the cafeteria or dining room area, including organizing the serving area, collecting dishes, and resetting tables., • Utilizes food carts as needed to make patient tray deliveries., • Assists in cooking operations and prepares residents’ between-meal nourishment and cold foods (e.g., salads, sandwiches, desserts, etc.) according to oral and/or written instruction; reconstitutes hot foods in microwave ovens., • Serves foods at proper temperatures utilizing appropriate kitchen equipment in a safe manner., • Cleans the kitchen and dining area. Washes, sanitizes, and/or sterilizes dishes, work areas/surfaces, utensils, and equipment, including stripping trays, scraping, loading, and storing clean service wares., • Collects, transports, and/or disposes of garbage and trash in designated containers; runs appropriate items through a dishwasher utilizing appropriate cleaning and sanitizing agent(s)., • Obtains stock from refrigerators and storerooms, loads and unloads stock, and dispatches and stores supplies. Utilizes “First in–First Out” (FIFO) stocking methods and provides stock replenishment recommendations., • Reviews and follows assigned daily work tasks as posted or directed by the Supervisor., • Communicates respectfully with others to help ensure positive experiences for residents, visitors, and facility staff., • Monitors food labels to ensure appropriate freshness dates and product names are listed., • Utilizes two patient identifiers and scripting when providing patient meals., • Complete and submit timesheet accurately and on time in compliance with department procedures., • Attends in-service education programs and departmental meetings, as assigned., • Performs other related duties, as assigned or directed by Supervisor or Manager., • Minimum Qualifications, • Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out simple instructions. Work Shifts 8:00 A.M – 4:00 P.M Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position: Under direct supervision of a Licensed Nurse or other licensed professional staff, performs activities and procedures of a non-professional nature in direct/indirect care of patients and residents, or participates as a member of a treatment, nursing, medical or health care team in implementing appropriate regimens. Examples of Typical Tasks: 1. Assists in recreational and rehabilitation activities designed to meet the assessed needs, interests and capabilities of patients. Supervises patients/residents during field trips., 2. Assists with the physical care and personal hygiene of selected patients, consisting of, but not limited to, changing simple dressings, giving enemas and taking vital signs. Prepares patient for meals and feeds them if necessary., 3. Prepares patient for examination by performing assigned procedures such as temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight and measurements, and assists in the examination process., 4. Prepares patient and/or examining room for examination, treatment and/or procedures. Sets up and arranges examining room., 6. Changes linen and makes beds. Keeps ward and/or unit, linen, utility, treatment, storage rooms and recreational areas in a neat and orderly fashion., 8. Reports observations of patients' and families' condition, mental state and social behavior to medical and professional staff caring for patients, and participates in the assessment and/or care of patients and families., 9. Maintains, controls, completes, processes and files patients' charts, records, transportation and time records, appropriate forms and documents., 10. Assists in clinic, admission procedures and in regulation of visitors., 11. Escorts ambulatory patients and transports non-ambulatory patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed or stretcher-bed, including those with intravenous apparatuses to all departments, clinics, diagnostic and therapeutic units, religious and recreation centers, and other areas within the facility and facility's affiliation hospital. Accompanies children to facility school and explains nature of trips to patients., 12. Transports bodies and/or assists mortuary caretaker in transporting bodies to the mortuary and places in refrigerator when necessary. Searches DOA's and completes the required DOA reports. Transports fetuses, amputated parts or other specimens to morgue and provides postmortem care., 13. Collects and delivers specimens, charts, x-rays, regular and emergency requisitions for diagnostic tests and treatments. Performs other messenger duties, as required., 14. Provides for comfort needs of patients and assists patient with all aspects and activities of daily living., 15. Maintains clinical competence by attending continuing education programs.
