Job Title: Ceded Reinsurance AccountantJob Summary The Ceded Reinsurance Accountant will be responsible for managing the ceded reinsurance accounting process, supporting quarterly close activities, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders to enhance reporting efficiency, strengthen controls, and drive process improvements within a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities * Manage the ceded reinsurance book of business, including treaty setup and ongoing maintenance * Prepare reinsurance statements, cash calls, and related billing documentation * Process cash payments and apply cash accurately to outstanding balances * Monitor balances, perform analytics, and investigate variances * Perform quarterly reporting and analysis, including period-over-period variance analysis * Reconcile reinsurance subledger activity to the General Ledger * Support parent company reporting requirements * Prepare quarterly financial schedules to support close and year-end statutory reporting * Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial data * Partner with IT and cross-functional teams to automate processes and enhance reporting efficiency * Identify process improvements and assist in strengthening internal controls * Support special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed Qualifications * 5+ years of experience in ceded reinsurance accounting * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience * Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis tools * Proven experience performing reconciliations and detailed financial analysis * Strong understanding of General Ledger accounting and financial reporting * Self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive process improvements * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments * Strong ownership, accountability, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment Key Skills * Ceded Reinsurance Accounting * Reinsurance Accounting * General Ledger & Reconciliations * Financial & Statutory Reporting * Variance Analysis * Cash Payments & Cash Application * Microsoft Excel (Advanced) Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of New York, NY.
