Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Assistant Project Manager / Project Accountant to support the financial and administrative management of a large-scale mixed-use construction project on Long Island. This hybrid role bridges project management and accounting, ensuring accurate financial tracking, compliance with incentive programs, and smooth coordination between project teams, subcontractors, and ownership. The ideal candidate has strong construction accounting experience, a solid understanding of project cost controls, and familiarity with Industrial Development Agency (IDA) agreements and reporting requirements. Key Responsibilities Project Accounting & Financial Management • Manage all project-related financial tracking, including job cost reporting, budget monitoring, and cost forecasting, • Process and track subcontractor requisitions, lien waivers, and vendor invoices, • Assist with preparation of monthly owner requisitions and draw packages, • Maintain accurate cost codes and ensure proper allocation of expenses, • Reconcile project costs against budgets and identify variances, • Assist in administering and tracking compliance with IDA agreements, including sales tax exemptions and reporting requirements, • Maintain documentation for IDA benefits, including material purchases and contractor certifications, • Coordinate with project team to ensure adherence to IDA-related requirements (e.g., reporting, local labor, or procurement provisions, if applicable), • Support Project Manager in day-to-day operations of the project, • Track contracts, change orders, and project commitments, • Assist with procurement and subcontractor onboarding processes, • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure timely flow of information, • Prepare monthly financial reports and project status updates, • Assist with schedule tracking and milestone reporting, • Maintain organized digital and physical project files, • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field, • 3–7 years of experience in construction accounting, project coordination, or similar role, • Strong understanding of construction job costing and financial reporting, • Experience with IDA agreements or similar tax incentive programs strongly preferred, • Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300/Timberline, Procore, or similar), • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, • Excellent communication and organizational skills, • Proactive problem solver with a collaborative mindset, • Ability to interface with both accounting and field personnel effectivelyCompany DescriptionMid size construction management firm located in Fairfield County.Mid size construction management firm located in Fairfield County.
