The Comprehensive Afterschool System (COMPASS) of NYC program serves young people enrolled in grades K-12. SONYC, which stands for Schools Out NYC, is the COMPASS middle school model that serves as a pathway to success for youth in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Job Description ABOUT US New York Edge is the largest provider of after-school and summer camp programs in New York City public schools. Each year, academic programs—including STEM, the arts, sports and wellness, and college access—help 40,000 students develop leadership skills and succeed in school. SUMMARY Extended Day Activity Instructors lead after-school programming for children and teens at New York Edge after-school program sites. The activity instructor will teach or co-lead activities in one of the following areas: STEM, visual art, performing art, literacy, student leadership and character development, sports, health and wellness, business, finance and entrepreneurship, math, media arts, journalism, botany, and urban agriculture, history. Job Description Title: Assistant Group Leader Reports To: Program Director, PS 32 Location: 420 Union Street, Brooklyn, New York 11231 Hours: Up to 20 hours/Week; Non-Exempt; Schedule: School Year / September - June / Monday - Friday, 2pm to 6pm Salary: $16.50 / hour Job Summary: The Assistant Group Leader supports and assists staff in carrying out all planned educational and enrichment activities for the after-school enrichment and recreational program. Major Duties: * Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events * Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary * Supervise participants throughout afterschool program * Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up * Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model * Support activity instructor(s) with lessons. * Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment. * Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations. * Perform other duties as assigned.
