This role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, coordination of interventional pain procedures, and patient education. The NP collaborates closely with pain management physicians, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes while ensuring compliance with New Jersey state regulations and evidence‑based practices. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care • Perform comprehensive pain assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic findings, • Diagnose and manage chronic and acute pain conditions such as back pain, neuropathic pain, arthritis, cancer‑related pain, and post‑surgical pain, • Develop and implement individualized pain management treatment plans in collaboration with supervising/collaborating physicians, • Prescribe medications (including controlled substances) in accordance with NJ regulations and clinical guidelines, • Monitor patient response to treatment, adjust medications, and manage side effects or complications, • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging studiesInterventional & Procedural Support, • Assist with and/or perform approved pain management procedures based on scope of practice and training (e.g., trigger point injections, joint injections, follow‑ups for epidural or nerve block procedures), • Provide pre‑ and post‑procedure patient education and follow‑up careCompliance & Documentation, • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), • Ensure adherence to New Jersey Board of Nursing regulations, DEA requirements, and Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) laws, • Follow opioid prescribing guidelines, risk mitigation strategies, and pain contracts as applicablePatient Education & Care Coordination, • Educate patients and families on pain conditions, treatment options, medication use, risks, and lifestyle modifications, • Coordinate care with referring providers, physical therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other healthcare professionals, • Promote non‑pharmacologic pain management strategies when appropriateQualificationsEducation, • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner programLicensure & Certification, • Active New Jersey Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license, • National NP certification (FNP, AGNP, or Adult-Gerontology preferred), • New Jersey CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance) registration, • Active DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain), • ACLS/BLS certification (as required by the facility)Experience, • Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred, • Prior experience in pain management, anesthesia, orthopedics, neurology, or primary care strongly preferred, • Experience with controlled substance prescribing and chronic pain populations is highly desirableSkills & Competencies, • Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills, • Knowledge of multimodal pain management strategies, • Excellent patient communication, counseling, and education skills, • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, • Familiarity with NJ pain management and opioid prescribing laws, • Weekly pay, • Medical benefits
