Job Description Job Description Overview The role of the Flavor Sample Laboratory Technician is to assist in the completion of profiles and support senior flavor chemists in preparing flavor compounds. Education and Skills • Education Requirement: College Degree or Degree in process, • One(1) year handling chemicals and other raw materials(can be achieved by working under a senior chemical compounder or vocational training), • Ability to follow directions, • Good mechanical aptitude, • Good verbal communication, • Prepare flavor compounds by weighing accurate formula, • Basic knowledge of GMPs/HACCP/Food Safety practices, • Ability to convert measurements standard to metric units or vice versa., • Perform daily functions of processing, pre-weigh and sanitization., • Recognize and used PPE need to perform daily job functions., • Help maintain a fully stocked, orderly and clean workstation for efficient compounding, • Use INFORM, SAR Management, Batch Metrics Portal, and CRM to import/export and finalize formulas under Senior Flavor Chemists direction., • Use of inventory system to make sure flavor raw materials are up to date., • Perform other lab and project tasks as directed by the Flavor Chemists and Lab Supervisors, • Keep an organized collection of flavor compounds., • Be able to help out with overflow work when Flavor work is slow., • Processes compounds, emulsions, and washed extracts by mixing, homogenizing, filtering, heating, chilling, and sampling and verify all necessary raw materials according to batch records and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)., • Operate lab equipment including blenders and sieves according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)., • Process flavor compounds according to formulas and techniques to ensure product quality., • Performs in-process quality testing to ensure customer specifications are met and manufactures products in a safe and timely manner., • Compounds finished products as specified on the batch record., • Following OSHA guidelines for handling hazardous materials, • Follow EPA standards on hazardous and non-hazardous waste management., • Spec development backup, • Preparing bulk inventory samples for labs, • Maintain raw material inventory for the labs, • Maintain flavor library Physical Demands/Dexterity • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision., • Ability prioritize and work well in a team and be a team player., • Ability to wear a full-face respirator., • Ability to stand for long periods of time, • Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, push, pull, grasp, and crouch for 8 hours per day., • Basic math, reading and computer skills. In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $50,000.00 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
