Company Description Bioherent is a deep-tech spin-off from the University of Málaga developing state-of-the-art photonic biosensors to simplify and accelerate clinical diagnostics. Our technology combines photonics, chemistry, and clinical sciences to address unmet needs in healthcare. Role Description Bioherent is seeking a motivated Junior Research Scientist for a 100% hands-on lab position. The scientist will perform daily activities including conducting laboratory experiments, maintaining lab equipment, analyzing data, developing test protocols, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Málaga that offers the opportunity to contribute to pioneering advancements in clinical diagnostics. Required Skills • PhD in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Surface Chemistry, • Hands-on laboratory experience in R&D environments, preferably in immunochemistry, analytical chemistry, nanotechnology, biosensing or diagnostic assay development, • Strong motivation to work in a highly experimental, laboratory-based role, • Ability to work in a structured way, following protocols, documenting results, and maintaining traceability of experiments, • Fluent English, both written and spoken. Spanish is a plus Technical Skills • Practical knowledge of surface chemistry, organic synthesis, functionalization strategies, and bioconjugation approaches, • Experience with nanoparticles, including synthesis, functionalization, stabilization, and/or application in biological or analytical assays, • Experience with immunoassays, particularly ELISA, including assay execution, optimization, troubleshooting, and data interpretation, • Familiarity with analytical and characterization techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, DLS, zeta potential, HPLC, FTIR, NMR, SEM/TEM, or related methods, • Ability to prepare reagents, process samples, execute experimental protocols, analyze data, and summarize results clearly, • Experience working with biological samples, proteins, antibodies, biomarkers, or other biofunctional molecules, • Good understanding of experimental controls, reproducibility, variability analysis, and basic statistical treatment of experimental data Preferred Skills • Experience in IVD, MedTech, biosensing, photonics, or diagnostic technology development, • Familiarity with optical or photonic instrumentation, biosensor readout systems, or lab instrumentation used in analytical/diagnostic platforms, • Experience with microfluidics, fluid handling systems, or sample preparation workflows, • Basic knowledge of quality documentation, SOPs, reagent traceability, lot control, and experimental record keeping, • Experience with data analysis tools such as Origin, Excel, Python, MATLAB, R, or similar, • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team involving chemistry, photonics, engineering, clinical science, and quality/regulatory functions
