SUMI is seeking a talented and experienced Sushi Chef to join its professional kitchen team. The successful candidate will be passionate about sushi and Japanese-inspired cuisine, with excellent knife skills, a strong understanding of sushi preparation, and a keen eye for presentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare sushi, nigiri, maki, and other Japanese-inspired dishes to high standards.
- Prepare and season sushi rice consistently.
- Prepare fresh vegetables, fruits, cooked ingredients, sauces, and other service components.
- Create beautifully presented dishes with precision and attention to detail.
- Follow kosher kitchen standards, food safety, hygiene, and storage procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and professional workstation.
- Work efficiently and calmly during busy service periods.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with the kitchen team.
- Assist with the preparation and development of new dishes and presentations.
- Help maintain consistency and quality across every service.
Requirements
- Previous professional experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation and Japanese-inspired cuisine.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for quality, creativity, and presentation.
- Experience working in a fast-paced professional kitchen.
- Ability to follow kosher kitchen procedures and standards.
- A professional, reliable, and organised approach.
