We are looking for a Labor Relations Officer for our HR department . In this role, you will lead employee relations matters, manage relations with Works Councils and unions, ensure compliance with Spanish labour law, interact with external legal advisors and advise managers and HR teams on case management and collective bargaining issues. This role requires a proactive practitioner with legal knowledge and excellent stakeholder management skills. Reporting to the HR Manager of EU Business School Group and based in our Barcelona Office. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary contact for employee relations matters: disciplinary processes, grievances, restructurings, disciplinary hearings, absenteeism management and return-to-work programs. Manage relations with Works Councils (Comités/Delegados) and trade unions: organise meetings, taking minutes, negotiate agreements, prepare documentation, and support collective bargaining processes. Provide operational and legal advice to managers and HR on the application of Spanish labour law and internal policies, draft letters, agreements, settlement proposals and written warnings. Lead and coordinate redundancy procedures when necessary, ensuring lawful processes and adequate communication. Monitor changes in employment legislation and case law; implement required policy or contract updates and inform stakeholders. Support investigations (e.g., misconduct, harassment) ensuring fair process and documentation. Partner with HR Business Partners to design and roll out employee relations training for managers (discipline, performance management, legal basics). Maintain accurate case records and produce periodic reports/metrics for senior HR and management. Liaise with external legal counsel and labour experts as required. Giving support with compliance matters. About you: You will require a proactive approach with real legal experience in Spain and excellent stakeholder management skills. You’ll also need: Degree in Law (preferred), Labour Relations, or similar. Postgraduate qualification in Employment Law or equivalent is an advantage. Minimum 3–4 years’ professional experience specifically in labour/employee relations (inside organisations or at law firms/consultancies). Demonstrable, recent experience dealing directly with Works Councils and unions in Spain. Strong knowledge of Spanish labour law and statutory procedures. Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills. Strong drafting skills and high level of attention to detail. Ability to work independently, manage sensitive/confidential information and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable advising senior leaders and participating in sensitive meetings. Professional level of both English and Spanish languages. A plus: Previous experience working in education multi-campus organisations. Prior exposure to cross-border HR issues or international HR frameworks.
