In‑Flight Performance and Operations Subdomain Responsibilities Modeling and evaluating the aircraft operational performance Analyzing and simulating the aircraft mission and its environment Acting as reference for data‑driven operational performance analysis Proposing and developing technical and operational solutions, including services In order to influence and optimize the aircraft design, flight operations, enhance safety and provide in‑service support to airlines and other aeronautical stakeholders. Position On‑Board Performance Applications Engineer The On‑Board Performance application teams take Aircraft Performance into the cockpit, to optimize the flight and to enhance safety! We develop, generate and deliver aircraft performance models and algorithms used by flight crews when operating the aircraft. We also analyse in‑service flight data to better understand flight operations, to evaluate how our onboard functions are working in operations and to propose onboard functions enhancement. Our mission is at the crossroads of Aircraft Performance, Flight Operations and System Integration. Key Functions Decision Help Flight Management System (FMS) Continuous Descent Approach (CDA) Optimised Operations Descent Profile Optimisation (DPO) Runway Occupancy Time (ROT) Autoderate 4D Safety Enhancement Performance data for Aircraft Environment Surveillance System (TAWS) Braking Action Computation Function (BACF) Take‑Off Securing (TOS) Take‑Off Monitoring (TOM) Runway Overrun Protection System (ROPS) APProach Stabilisation Monitor (APPSM) Fuel Penalty Monitoring Function (FPMF) Soft Go-Around (SGA) Future Capabilities for On‑Board Performance Tasks & Accountabilities Contribute to design and improvement of onboard performance functions Elaborate and validate surrogate performance models Support development by providing appropriate data and models for system implementation Achieve V&V activities to validate performance functions and data implementation, including laboratory test and analysis Contribute to digital transformation, including tasks and tools automation In‑Service data analysis These missions involve close collaboration with other teams such as Low Speed & High Speed performance teams, Functions and Systems, Test teams (lab and flight), Customer Support, etc. Required Skills Degree in aeronautical engineering / mechanical engineering (or equivalent) Good knowledge of aircraft flight physics Knowledge of flight and cockpit operations and/or aircraft systems Competences in IT (scripting, python…) and surrogate modelling High focus on team spirit, collaboration, pro‑activity, adaptability, dynamism, good communication skills Advanced level in English and more than 3 years of professional experience Aware of compliance risks and committed to integrity Employment Details Location: Getafe – Spain or Toulouse – France Job Title: On‑Board Performance Applications Engineer Employment Type: Permanent Experience Level: Professional Job Family: Flight & Space Physics Company: Airbus Operations SL Equal Opportunity Statement Airbus is committed to diversity and inclusive working environment.
