Remember happy employees are productive employees. Organising team-building activities will help create a positive work environment which is super important as you and your employees spend most of your time there.

So, what can you do to create a positive workplace? There are many types you can choose from: outdoor adventures, thinking/puzzle challenges, and even things such as a cooking course to improve team building.

But why make the effort to arrange such events? Here are a few of our top reasons:

It helps your employees to get to know each other better

Learning about the people that you work with means that you are going to have a much better understanding of one another’s strengths and weaknesses. When you have this information, you are going to be able to work much better together, ensuring that projects are split according to the areas that people are actually good at.

Also, having a sociable workplace where everyone gets along will lead to an increase in company morale. Not only that, it will encourage everyone to collaborate and be more open about their work tasks.

It is a chance to celebrate milestones as a team

Met your annual sales goals? Sure, go out for drinks but engage in a team-building activity first. It will create a spirit of friendship and teamwork when a work achievement is celebrated in such a way.

For example, go kayaking! Your team will have to work in pairs to kayak. Have a friendly competition and award the first ones to reach the finish line with an extra day off or dinner.

It improves communication

Communication within a team of people can be tricky to master, particularly when there are so many people who need to work together and understand one another.

Team building activities, particularly those that require you working together to reach a solution, are ideal for improving communication, and an office that communicates well, is one that is going to be much happier and more harmonious.

Divide your staff into groups of 2-5 people and give them a pack of poker cards with scissors. Ask them to build the tallest tower possible using only the cards and the scissors. This will inspire creativity and communication as the groups work to figure this task out.

It gives everyone a break

Whilst the majority of team building activities happen within working hours, it’s still a break from the normal office routine.  Team-building activities tend to be outdoors and involve a whole lot of fun with food and drinks. It rejuvenates your workforce and motivates them to work even harder.

With so many different team-building activities to choose from, you will definitely find something that will suit your staff and your business.
