Responsibilities: Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation and cooking. Maintain food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with the Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate. Manage inventory and food production processes, optimizing resources for efficiency. We require an experienced cook to work a minimum of 15 hours per week full time. You will manage the nursery’s kitchen, organise, prepare and deliver meals in accordance with the nursery’s menu. Experience of working in a similar setting environment and understanding the varied needs of children and their families is essential. A minimum Level 2 Certificate in Food and Hygiene is essential for this role. You must have knowledge of allergies and how to prevent risk along with the understanding of the issues of safeguarding children and equality. You will be able to work alone or as part of a team hence good communication skills will be handy. Other skills required are the ability to work to a budget, maintain equipment and ensure a tidy environment. Duties Lead and manage a team of childcare professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality care and education. Develop and implement engaging educational programmes that meet the needs of children aged 0-5 years. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on their children's progress and addressing any concerns. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to childcare and early years education. Oversee the daily operations of the nursery, including staffing, budgeting, and resource management. Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children and families. Conduct regular assessments of children's development and implement strategies to support their growth. Organise training sessions for staff to enhance their professional development in childcare practices. Requirements Proven experience in a leadership role within a nursery or early childhood education setting. Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and best practices in childcare. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Ability to manage staff effectively while fostering a positive team culture. Experience working with children in a nursery or similar environment is essential. Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations regarding childcare is advantageous. A qualification in Level 3 Childcare, First aid and Safeguarding. Must be DBS checked.
