Elephant is a neighbourhood restaurant and bar on Lower Clapton Road, Hackney. We’re looking for a Bartender / Server to join our small, friendly team.
This is a hands-on cocktail bartender role, with a strong focus on delivering consistently high-quality drinks and service. We’re looking for someone with solid bartending experience and a strong knowledge of classic cocktails, traditional techniques and modern bar processes.
You’ll be confident working from a signature cocktail list, following recipes and specifications precisely, and using a range of techniques to deliver drinks to a consistently high standard. You should have a genuine interest in cocktails and be comfortable learning and developing new drinks, techniques and processes as the menu evolves.
Alongside the bar, the role will involve supporting the wider restaurant operation when needed, including providing excellent guest service and assisting on the floor during busy periods. We’re looking for someone who is confident, personable and enjoys being part of a fast-paced, collaborative hospitality team.
The role is up to 35 hours per week, with Friday and Saturday availability essential. Additional weekday availability is a bonus.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing and serving cocktails, wine, beer and spirits to a high standard.
- Making classic cocktails confidently and accurately.
- Looking after guests across both the bar and restaurant floor.
- Taking food and drink orders and providing friendly, attentive table service.
- Helping guests with drinks recommendations and talking confidently about our menu.
- Keeping the bar clean, organised and well stocked throughout service.
- Supporting with bar prep, glassware, ice, garnishes and closing duties.
- Running food and drinks and helping the wider team keep service running smoothly.
- Supporting events, private bookings and special services when required.
- Getting involved wherever needed as part of a small and collaborative team.
Who we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who is confident behind a bar but equally comfortable looking after guests on the floor.
Previous bartending experience is essential, with a solid working knowledge of classic cocktails. Restaurant or table-service experience is highly desirable.
- Confident making classic cocktails and knowledgeable about their recipes, methods and techniques.
- Comfortable working from a signature cocktail list and following recipes, specifications and processes consistently.
- Interested in cocktail development and keen to learn new techniques, ingredients and styles.
- Detail-oriented and able to maintain consistency and quality throughout busy services.
- Friendly, approachable and naturally good with guests.
- Comfortable working at pace while keeping service relaxed, professional and personable.
- Passionate about cocktails, food and hospitality.
- Happy to support the wider restaurant team when needed, including working on the floor.
- Reliable, positive and a strong team player.
- Comfortable working late-night restaurant and bar services.
- Available to work Fridays and Saturdays consistently.
Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
