  Job Title: Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer Location: Merseyside (WA10) Salary: Up to £60K (DOE) + Allowances Shifts: Mon – Fri 08:00 – 16:00hrs Contract: Permanent Our client is a leading global Industrial Gases and Engineering company, delivering high quality, gas processing solutions for a variety of industries, including healthcare, chemical, manufacturing and food & beverage. An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to work out of their main Merseyside site, with regular visits to local satellite sites. You will be responsible for supervising contract personnel and actively support the sites SHEQ goals and targets. You would receive the following benefits; • Competitive salary, • Additional Allowance Payments, • Annual Pay Increase, • Excellent Pension Scheme, • Business Needs Car Provided As the E & I Engineer your duties will be; • Prepare, issue, monitor and control Permits to Work, incorporating contractors risk assessments., • Ensure all E&I activities within hazardous areas comply with ATEX/DSEAR and COMPEX standards., • Implement and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for isolation and maintenance of E&I equipment., • Manage and maintain HV electrical systems, ensuring all HV operations comply with site electrical safety rules., • Prepare plant for maintenance and inspection as required, by executing physical and electrical isolations., • Inspect and check all operating plant and machinery on a regular basis., • Diagnose faults on plant and machinery, provide feedback and raise work orders for rectification., • Participate in the sites on-call rota system. The successful E & I Engineer will have the following skills; • Qualified/Time Served within an Electrical/Instrumentation discipline., • Must have knowledge/experience working within a Chemical or Processing industry., • Must have detailed knowledge of Permit To Work procedures., • Must have some SHEQ knowledge/experience. IOSH/NEBOSH certification would be ideal., • Full UK driving licence., • Ability to work alone/on own initiative.

The Role As Design Team Leader, you'll lead a team of engineers and technicians from the company's regional engineering office on the outskirts of St Helens. You'll oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality temporary works designs within agreed service levels, driving team performance, accuracy, and profitability. You'll play a key part in mentoring and developing your team, reviewing and checking complex engineering schemes, and working closely with clients, sales, and operational teams to deliver practical, efficient design solutions. The role requires both technical depth and strong leadership, with the ability to manage workloads, inspire growth, and maintain high standards across all engineering outputs. Key Requirements • HND or Degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction-related Engineering., • Proven experience in temporary works design (groundworks, formwork, falsework, or propping & jacking)., • Previous leadership, mentoring, or team management experience., • Understanding of relevant design codes, standards, and safety regulations., • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills., • Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)., • UK driving licence. The Package • Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum, • Bonus: Up to 7.5% annual performance bonus, • Pension: 10% employer contribution, • Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays, • Hybrid Working: 2 days per week working from home, • Location: Outskirts of St Helens, UK
