Head Baker Location: West London Salary: £45,000 per annum Hours: 45 hours per week, over 5 days Change Hospitality is delighted to be partnering with an established, artisan bakery in West London to recruit an experienced Head Baker . This is an exciting opportunity to lead a talented bakery team within a business renowned for producing exceptional handcrafted breads, viennoiserie, and baked goods using high-quality ingredients and traditional methods. We're looking for a passionate baker who thrives in a hands-on leadership role and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and craftsmanship. The Role As Head Baker, you will take ownership of the day-to-day bakery operation, leading from the front while ensuring production runs smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for managing the team, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement across the bakery. Key Responsibilities Lead and motivate the bakery team, creating a positive and productive working environment. Oversee daily production to ensure all products are delivered on time and to the highest standard. Maintain exceptional quality control across all breads, pastries, and bakery products. Manage stock levels, ordering, and minimise waste. Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards. Train, mentor, and develop junior bakers. Work closely with senior management to improve processes and support menu development where required. Monitor labour and production efficiencies while maintaining artisan quality. About You Previous experience as a Head Baker or Senior Baker in an artisan bakery. Strong knowledge of sourdough, artisan breads, laminated pastries, and fermentation techniques. A natural leader with excellent organisational and communication skills. Passionate about producing exceptional bakery products. Calm under pressure with excellent time management. A hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example. Level 2 Food Hygiene certification (or equivalent) is desirable.
