Job Description Glasgow City Council’s Summer Internship Programme will be available from Monday 8 June 2026 – Friday 28 August 2026, inclusive. \n Applicants must be available for the full duration of the placement. \n The intern will work 35 hours per week and rate of pay will be the Glasgow Living Wage. Interns will work for 12 weeks, during which time they will accrue 6 days leave, the payment of which is included in their Salary so must be taken during their 12-week placement. \n Applicants require to be available week commencing 23 March 2026 - Thurs 2 April 2026 for interview. \n The Spatial Planning – Research and Development Team within Planning and are based within Neighbourhood and Regeneration Services (NRS). Planning supports the development, implementation and monitoring of the Open Space Strategy (OSS) and Forestry and Woodland Strategy (FWS). \n The intern role focuses on filling data gaps identified by the FWS and contributing to climate action, biodiversity enhancement, and environmental resilience through improved amenity, green networks, carbon capture, and flood risk management. \n The work and findings of the project will be implemented and used to support the delivery of statutory duties. Specifically, the project will aid in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the FWS and the OSS. This involves creating, implementing, monitoring, and updating these strategies as part of the statutory duties. \n Broadly, the improved data made available through the internship can contribute to addressing climate change and enhance biodiversity through delivering the FWS, OSS and the Strategic Plan. \n These outcomes align with the council's broader goals of creating a sustainable, resilient, and thriving city for all residents. \n Working with existing officers the candidate will be required to effectively communicate across a variety of audiences and comfortable with outdoor work. \n Eligibility criteria • Must live within the Glasgow City Council boundary, • Have the right to live and work in the UK \n Working for Us\Job Evaluation \n \n \n \n For further information about working for us please refer to our website GCC HR Policies \n \n \n
