Radiation Protection Technician PAYE/ Umbrella Contract (+ 36 days paid leave). Up to 334£/PAYE/ 450£UMB 10 hour days Shift Rotatio This role is required to support oversight and assurance arrangements for work with ionising radiation at the HPC construction site. Primarily this will be to support the preparation and execution of industrial radiography on the site. This will involve the management of radioactive sources and equipment stored in a central store, independent confirmation that a radiography area has been established to the correct standards, and routine radiation monitoring of the radioactive source store and around the barriers of the radiography area. Radiological protection technicians will support the independent oversight, supervision and monitoring of the radiography, reducing the risks to workers from unplanned events and the potential delays to the construction schedule. The role will also be expected to support the preparations for radiography tasks, and due to the nature of radiography, the role requires frequent work on evenings, nights and weekends. The Radiological protection technician will be expected to liaise with contractors to ensure the safe and timely execution of the work. Principal Accountabilities A Radiological Monitoring Technician will accompany the radiography teams to ensure the correct standards of work and barrier control are being exercised: • Confirm the barriers have been erected as per the barrier plan and that all necessary equipment is in place and operational, and (where appropriate) is calibrated and has undergone a pre-use check. * Perform radiation monitoring at the barrier during the exposure, ensuring the barriers continue to be placed correctly. * Prior to handing the area back, confirm the work is complete and that all sources and equipment have been removed from the area. * Perform monitoring to support a radiological incident. Other responsibilities include; A central source store is being supplied by NNB to its contract partners for the storage of industrial radiography sources. This role is required to manage the inventory of the store, perform routine tasks associated with the store, and perform general radiological protection tasks in accordance with site procedures: • Receive new radiography sources to the site and ensure they are correctly registered and logged into the store * Dispatch radiography sources from the site and ensure all paperwork is completed correctly * Ensure all radiography sources are correctly signed out and returned to the store, verifying that the necessary paperwork is in place for the radiography task before the source is issued * Perform periodic source inventory checks * Perform periodic radiation and contamination surveys of the store. * Liaise with the EDF NNB Approved Dosimetry Service for the storage, issue and return of EDF NNB staff legal dosimetry. * Administer the direct reading and alarming dosimeters, ensuring they are sent for repair and calibration, and are stored to avoid damage. * Ensure the RP instruments used by the independent RP team at the site are sent for repair and calibration, and are stored to avoid damage Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience Essential * GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English * Experience as a qualified Radiation Protection Technician / Health Physics Monitor within an organisation. * A working knowledge of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) as it applies to this role. I am recruiting for a Test Automation Engineer with experience of Python (experience with Playwright too would be a huge bonus but isn't essential) to join my client. They are happy to consider people on a fully remote basis as long as you are happy to travel to their office in Bath on occasion, please note you need to be UK based. The role will be paid a salary but will initially be for 12 months with the chance of it becoming fully permanent after. You'll be joining a awesome fast growing company and will be joining an established QA team of 15 incredible humans and will be focusing primarily on automation for them. Automation runs across a range of internal and external systems and websites ,with lots of exciting new work alongside some legacy and inherited platforms from recent takeovers. The core automation repository is already in place, so you'll be enhancing and maintaining existing solutions, with potential opportunities to modernise or even rebuild down the line. The role will predominantly be working with Python and Playwright for automation, BDD style using Behave, with some legacy Python/Selenium/Behave in the mix, covering multiple platforms and customer journeys. Any experience with enterprise systems like SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Salesforce, API testing, and complex integration's would also be useful but isn't essential. There are other experienced Test automation engineers to work with so you'll always have the support of others around you to bounce ideas off etc. The environment is busy with lots going on and documentation can be limited, and requirements aren't always crystal clear, so you'll need to be the kind of person who can challenge requirements and ask the right questions.
