Job Title: Lead Structural Design and Analysis Engineer Complex Aerospace, Energy & Defence Projects Permanent & Contract Location: Dorking, Surrey, UK FLYTE are partnered with a consultancy based in Dorking that specialise in delivering world-class engineering expertise to clients across high-tech and challenging sectors. With a reputation for excellence in design and analysis, they work closely with high profile customers in industries such as space, aerospace, nuclear, marine, gas turbines, green energy, defence, and research. After a record 2024 and start to 2025, and success with winning several new long term projects, they’re looking to grow their team with the appointment of a a highly technical lead mechanical design and development engineer to take responsibility for the following: • Lead structural design and analysis workstreams from requirements capture through to delivery, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance, • Oversee modelling, finite element analysis (FEA), load and stress analysis, fatigue and lifecycle evaluation of structures (metallic, composite, hybrid), • Guide and mentor more junior engineers, setting standards for quality, documentation, and best practice., • Liaise with project management, customers, and other engineering disciplines (e.g. composites, thermo-fluids, rotor dynamics) to integrate structure design into broader system requirements, • Review, validate and sign-off structural design deliverables., • Manage risk, design iterations, trade-offs (weight, cost, manufacturability, performance)., • Contribute to innovation, process improvement (e.g. analysis workflows, tools, simulation fidelity).
