We are looking for a kind, reliable and flexible live-in carer to support a lovely 92-year-old lady in her home. This is a calm and rewarding role, suited to someone who enjoys caring for an older person while also appreciating a relaxed home environment and having plenty of personal time. The Role The lady has an established daily routine, with support required at four key times: • 7.00am – Morning routine, assistance with washing and getting ready, breakfast and medication, • 1.00pm – Lunch, with some companionship and conversation, • 6.00pm – Dinner and offering support as required, • 10.15pm – Assistance with the bedtime routine The total active care time is approximately 2.5 hours per day. Outside of these key times, the carer will have substantial free time to pursue their own interests, relax, read, work or go out as appropriate. However, an important part of the role is being a reassuring and responsible presence in the home, particularly when the family are out. The successful candidate should therefore be comfortable with a live-in arrangement and understand that, although the active care hours are limited, they are part of the household and provide an additional layer of support and reassurance. Flexibility The care times are established, but we are looking for someone who can be flexible around the day and family requirements. The position will be based on 5 days on duty and 2 days off each week, with the two days off being flexible throughout the month. This allows the family to arrange the days off around holidays, appointments, weekends away and other family commitments. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with the family and provide some flexibility when required. The Household The lady lives in a comfortable family home, where her daughter and son-in-law also live. They both work primarily from home, so they will be around much of the time but are generally working and will not be available to provide the day-to-day care. The successful candidate will therefore become an important part of the household, working alongside the family while taking responsibility for the lady's daily care and wellbeing. There is also a gentle, playful and friendly dog in the household, so the successful candidate should be comfortable around dogs. Accommodation & Benefits • Private bedroom, • Private bathroom, • Accommodation provided free of charge, • Approximately 2.5 hours of active care per day, • Significant free time between the established care routines, • A comfortable and friendly family environment, • Two flexible days off each week About You We are looking for someone who is: • Warm, caring and compassionate, • Patient and trustworthy, • Reliable and responsible, • Comfortable working independently, • Flexible and able to adapt to family needs, • Respectful of an older person's independence and privacy, • Happy living as part of a family household, • Comfortable around dogs, • Experienced in caring for older people, either professionally or through relevant personal experience preferred, • A good communicator who will keep the family informed of any concerns This is not a 24-hour active care position. The lady's care needs are relatively light, with approximately 2.5 hours of active support each day. The key requirement is having someone dependable in the home who can provide care at the established times and be a reassuring presence when family members are away. The role would suit someone looking for a comfortable live-in position with meaningful but relatively light caring responsibilities, plenty of personal time and the opportunity to become a valued member of a friendly household.
