Special Projects Surveyor – Major Works (Latent Defects & Fire Safety) Special Projects Surveyor – Major Works (Latent Defects & Fire Safety)Salary: £68,309 + performance bonus Location: North London (Islington, Hackney, Haringey) Hybrid: Up to 2 days per week from home Are you an experienced Building Surveyor with a passion for solving complex building issues, delivering high‑risk remediation projects, and making homes safer for residents? This is a unique opportunity to join a specialist team tackling some of the most challenging latent defect and fire‑safety projects across North London.It’s a highly specialised role focused on major works, structural issues, building pathology, cladding remediation, and long‑term defect investigation. You’ll take ownership of projects across a diverse portfolio of high‑rise, mid‑rise, and low‑rise residential buildings (6–22 storeys), working independently while being part of a skilled and supportive team. The Role • Manage multiple remediation projects simultaneously from inception through completion, • Diagnose issues through strong building pathology expertise, • Ensure compliance with current fire‑safety and building‑regulation requirements, • Oversee contractors, consultants, and site operations, • Apply deep understanding of CDM regulations, • Communicate clearly and sensitively with residents, • Produce high‑quality technical reports and contract documentation, • Work across two major workstreams: leaseholder blocks and general‑needs residential properties, • Visit sites regularly — with an Oyster card provided for operational travelAbout YouYou should bring:, • Strong Building Surveying background with major works experience, • Proven experience of latent defects, cladding, fire safety or structural remediation, • Ability to manage complex, multi‑disciplinary projects with minimal supervision, • Practical understanding of CDM Regulations, • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, • Experience working in housing, local authority or similar environments, • Confidence in engaging with residents, including explaining technical issues in a clear, empathetic way, • Work on meaningful, safety‑critical projects shaping the future of residential building standards, • Join a specialist team of five delivering high‑profile, impactful programmes, • Hyper‑local patch — most sites walkable across North London, • Hybrid working: 2 days from home, • Oyster card provided for site travel
