The After School Youth Program Food Service Assistant (006) will be responsible for preparing lunch and other food to club members in a courteous customer service oriented manner, organizing and setting up equipment and workstations, and performing duties while following health, food service, government, and other regulations. We are offering an exciting opportunity for an After School Youth Program Food Service Assistant (006) at our Navy Yard Site located in Brooklyn, NY



This is a part-time position working up to 25 hours a week Monday through Friday in the afternoon and evening.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the After School Youth Program Food Service Assistant (006) Position:



Practice personal hygiene and proper sanitation procedures.
Turn on, test and monitor equipment at the beginning of the day.
Food preparation according to written and oral instructions.
Serve lunch, dinner and a la carte items.
Monitor food and equipment temperatures at all times.
Exhibit courtesy and understanding to club members.
Demonstrate proper equipment operation skills.
Set up and break down of serving areas.
Receive, stock, and rotate incoming and outgoing inventory.
Participate in formal and informal training.
Demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices.
Exhibit the professional behavior of a reliable employee.
Perform preparation duties for the next day.
Maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment.
Participate in special events for club members and community.
Oversee daily club member cafeteria sign-in and handwashing practices.
Perform dishwashing duties of cooking, serving and eating utensils tools.



Required Skills/Knowledge for the After School Youth Program Food Service Assistant (006) Position:



High school diploma or equivalent is required.
General knowledge of the use or care of food preparation equipment.
Ability to promote healthy eating in a creative manner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and club members.
