The Lead Teacher at Brooklyn Free Space (BFS) is responsible for the general supervision and management of a classroom. She or he must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood development. This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to all members of the school community and to effectively lead a teaching team. She or he must maintain a professional attitude, have a warm and friendly personality, and treat all children with dignity and respect. She or he must be able to meet the requirements of all licensing agencies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Teaching Plan, supervise, and implement classroom programs in accordance with the policies of the school and requirements of licensing agencies. Gear program to needs of individual children, as well as the whole group, with concern for their interests, abilities, talents and individual style, and pace of learning. Engage in ongoing evaluation and assessment procedures needed to assess children’s developmental levels and support curriculum planning. Implement methods for effectively integrating the support, skills, and talents of the teaching team members in all areas of the classroom environment. Administration Assume an equal share of staff joint housekeeping responsibilities. Maintain ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom, with a clear focus on documentation of the children’s work. Facilitate effective and constructive daily communication with families. Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth. Facilitate effective and constructive weekly team meetings Read BFS email communications on a daily basis when school is open, excluding sick days or other scheduled days off, and respond to queries in a timely manner. We are looking for a patient, enthusiastic driving instructor to prepare our students for their driver's tests. The driving instructor's responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons that promote students' theoretical and applied driving skills. Driving instructors also communicate with students to ascertain which of their abilities require further development. To be successful as a driving instructor, you should maintain excellent communication with students at all times. Ultimately, a top-notch driving instructor will tailor their instruction to meet the needs of students, while still meeting targets set by the driving school. Driving Instructor Responsibilities: Preparing lessons that are tailored to students' needs. Providing instruction on the parts and functions of a vehicle, and on-road regulations. Teaching practical skills related to all aspects of driving. Helping students to develop confidence in their driving skills. Gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations. Calming students who are in distress. Documenting and reporting on students' progress. Informing students when they are ready to take the driver's test. Reporting all accidents to the Head of the driving school. Driving Instructor Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driving license for the level at which you will be teaching. Valid driving instructor's license or certification. Proven experience as a driving instructor. Clear driving record. Clear criminal record. Excellent verbal and written communication. This is a in-person live-in position, at Camp Chateaugay, a premier co-ed sleep-away camp located in Upstate New York, in the Adirondack's. We are a camp for children ages 7-17, who is seeking a skilled and experienced Lacrosse or Soccer Counselor to be part of our Athletics / A-Field Department. (The A-Field is an umbrella term used to cover all athletic areas as there is opportunity to assist in other sports as well) This is a summer, residential position spanning from June 9th to August 13th 2025. As an A-Field counselor, you will be expected to create and execute fun and engaging lesson plans for campers to take part in. Your area director will oversee your daily practices as you lead as many as six periods a day. We have a Soccer and Lacrosse pitch and all of the necessary equipment needed. Lessons will range from drills, to practices, to improving techniques to lead up to games and matches. Cabin Duties When not teaching Soccer or Lacrosse, you will be a bunk counselor, who is responsible for an assigned bunk outside of their activity. Counselors live in the bunks with 6-12 campers and usually 1 or 2 other co-counselors. Between them, they will be in charge of cabin clean up, getting campers ready in the mornings and to each meal on time. At least one counselor should be supervising the bunk at all times, whether it be during rest hours or at night. Counselors need to be energetic and enthusiastic to motivate the campers, to bring the camp spirit to their Chateaugay experience. A cabin counselor creates a bond with her/his cabin, mentors and inspires campers, and handles minor issues that arise. A camper spends more time with their cabin counselors than with any other adult on camp, and can be most impacted by them for that reason. We want to create friendships, foster growth and independence, and make sure our campers have the best summer experience possible.
