You must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position. \n\n Why You Should Apply: \n\n\n\t • FT weekdays 4x9s (0630/0730 - 1530/1630)\n, • Weekend/holiday on call rotation required\n, • Call rotation includes 1 weekday of call per week and ~3 full weekends of call during contract\n\n\nRequired Certifications\n\n, • ACLS, BLS, PALS (all through AHA or RQI only)\n, • NIHSS required\n, • NYS RN Licensure\n\n\nPosition Overview\n\n, • All agency staff will be expected to float between Geneva General Hospital and Finger Lakes Surgery Center\n, • The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families\n, • The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode\n, • The OR RN develops specialized skill in the area of patient admitted for medical conditions\n, • Provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions\n, • The Endo RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing\n, • The OR Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment\n\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n, • Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care\n, • Assesses patient / family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness (being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do), and analyzing data or information obtained through direct observation/assessment, technology, or health team communication\n, • Creates a developmentally and age appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of the health problems identified\n, • In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, sets goals and monitors the patient's progress\n, • The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition/reprioritization of needs\n, • Promotes, advocates for and protects the health, safety and rights of the patient\n, • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to accomplish the best possible patient outcome\n, • Teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with the individual's education, training, and scope of practice\n, • Understands the personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies\n, • Motivates the patient/family by teaching them what is needed to continue care/healing at home\n, • Assesses the patient/family learning styles and structures the sessions to maximize understanding\n, • Seeks "teachable" moments during the care delivery process to emphasize pertinent information\n, • Asks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self care process\n, • Provides tools and information to assist the patient's family after discharge\n, • Documents the education provided and the patient/family response to the education\n, • Systematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of Nursing Practice and uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and care delivery\n, • Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas in which professional development would be beneficial\n, • Takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skill\n, • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems\n, • Nursing practice reflects the importance of making a meaningful connection with patient/family\n, • Seeks to develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship by being present in the moment of interaction, listening, communicating, engaging, and anticipating the patient/family needs\n, • Strives to understand what is most important to the patient/family, acknowledging that the patient and family are the central focus of all care and services\n, • Embraces the importance of creating a Healing Environment as a key element of professional nursing practice\n, • Demonstrates skill in application of interventions including medication administration\n\n\nImportant Information\n\n, • Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated\n, • Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues\n Alerion Healthcare Job ID #2031.
