Job Description Director of Residential Services Location: East Hanover, NJ Job Type: Full Time | Director Level ABOUT PILLAR CARE CONTINUUM Pillar Care Continuum is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and other special needs by supporting personal growth, independence and participation in the community. Founded in 1953 to meet the needs of children with cerebral palsy and their families, Pillar Care has steadily grown and now delivers life-affirming services to infants, children, adults and their families throughout northern New Jersey through 27 program locations. Pillar Care provides specialized programs to meet a wide range of educational, therapeutic, and social needs of people with various disabilities. The agency serves over 1,650 families each year and employs 700 full- and part-time employees. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Director of Residential Services is a pivotal leader at Pillar Care Continuum, responsible for the strategic oversight and delivery of exceptional residential support services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and care teams. This role demands close collaboration with Clinical, Behavioral, and Quality Assurance departments to uphold the organization’s standards of excellence. The Director also ensures full compliance and cooperation with regulatory bodies including but not limited to the New Jersey Office of Licensing (OOL), Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and Department of Human Services (DHS) during inspections, investigations, and audits, safeguarding the integrity and quality of all residential programs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides leadership, vision, and oversight for all residential programs operated by Pillar Care Continuum, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and mission., • Represents Pillar Care Continuum and serves as a primary contact and resource for families, DDD officials, Support Coordinators, internal staff, and other stakeholders by providing expertise on residential services., • Ensures all residential programs support person-centered planning, self-determination, and community inclusion, in accordance with DDD policies and Medicaid waiver requirements., • Establishes and implements standardized systems across all homes to ensure uniformity in record-keeping, staffing practices, and operational procedures., • Advocates for the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities, ensuring that all services reflect Pillar Care Continuum’s mission and core values., • Oversees the recruitment, training, development, and retention of residential staff at all levels to promote a stable, skilled workforce., • Ensures timely and accurate submission of all required documentation and reports to senior management, funders and regulatory bodies., • Manages program budgets, staffing resources, and service capacity to maintain high standards of care and fiscal responsibility., • Plans, develops, and manages cost-effective, community-based residential housing models (e.g., group homes) for individuals with developmental and other disabilities., • Participates in the development and implementation of new programs or initiatives that enhance residential care and address the evolving needs of the individuals served., • Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic goals and operational objectives for residential services., • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field, Master’s preferred., • Minimum of 7 years of progressive and proven leadership experience in residential services and developmental disabilities programs., • Strong working knowledge of New Jersey DDD, OOL, and Medicaid-funded service models., • Proven ability to manage large teams, oversee multiple programs, and maintain regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment., • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and crisis management skills., • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, project management / collaboration tools and EHR-Net Smart system or similar case management system, • Valid New Jersey state Driver’s License., • Demonstrate Pillar Care Continuum Culture of Excellence and values To be considered for the role, all applicants must be willing to undergo the terms prior to employment: • Must successfully complete a criminal background check and receive clearance from the Department of Human Services, confirming they are not disqualified, before beginning work with individuals served by the organization., • Must consent to having their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities., • Must submit to drug testing prior to their start date., • Required to complete an application for a name check against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI)., • Required to complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI). COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary: $ 110,000-125,000 annually Pillar Care takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s work experience and qualification as well as the scope of the role, complexity and external and internal market value when determining salary level.
